4 Mistakes WWE has made in the build to Survivor Series: WarGames 2024

WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 is less than two weeks away, and its card is lining up quite nicely. Apart from the Men's WarGames Match and a massive SummerSlam 2024 rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship, the Women's WarGames Match is also set after Rhea Ripley's blockbuster return on the latest episode of RAW.

As exciting as the build to the premium live event has been, not everything has been done right. There have been some creative mistakes in advancing the featured storylines, which has affected some fans' excitement for the upcoming PLE. What are some of the biggest mishaps that have been committed by Triple H leading up to the event?

Below are four mistakes WWE has made in the build to Survivor Series: WarGames 2024.

#4. The Women's WarGames Match build has felt rushed to some fans

Rhea Ripley returned to set up the Women's WarGames Match for WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 to a massive reaction from fans on RAW. Given the popularity of not just The Eradicator but also the other women involved in the match, her surprise return and challenge for the iconic match was bound to be popular. However, many fans could not help but feel like it could have been done better.

Some felt that Liv Morgan teaming up with Nia Jax just weeks after they battled at Crown Jewel 2024 felt rushed. Others have questioned Bianca Belair's willingness to align with Damage CTRL's IYO SKY despite not quite forgiving Bayley for the same group's past actions. These are some pretty valid concerns, and while the match is sure to be exciting, it would have been better if they were addressed.

#3. Gunther not facing CM Punk at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 has left some fans unimpressed

Towards the end of CM Punk's heated feud with Drew McIntyre, the former made it clear that the World Heavyweight Championship was his next target. The Scottish Warrior would not let him pursue it, but since the duo ended their rivalry at Bad Blood 2024, the WWE Universe expected the Second City Saint to challenge Gunther at Survivor Series: WarGames 2024.

However, it was not meant to be, as Damian Priest instead stepped up to The Ring General to set up a SummerSlam 2024 rematch. While The Archer of Infamy is a more than worthy opponent, his challenge denied the audience a chance to witness the Best in the World going one-on-one with the Austrian star for the first time in a dream match.

For many people, this was a mistake by the creative team. Could it be that Triple H has other plans for Punk at the Vancouver PLE? Only time will tell.

#2. Completing the WWE Survivor Series: WarGames card late has affected the hype for the PLE

Less than two weeks to WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024, only three matches have been announced for the PLE. At least two more bouts are expected to be added before the show, giving Triple H and Co. three weekly episodic shows to pull it off. This has become a recurring theme in recent months, eliciting mixed feelings from the Stamford-based promotion's fanbase.

While some fans do not mind the approach of focusing on a few core feuds and then finishing the build with a flurry of late additions to the card, others are not in favor of it. For example, fans without any emotional investment in the two WarGames matches and the World Heavyweight Championship bout may not be looking forward to the PLE until someone like LA Knight or Bron Breakker is added to the card.

#1. A section of WWE fans have not been happy with the addition of fifth members to the Men's WarGames Match

The Men's WarGames Match scheduled for WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 has been one of the most anticipated bouts of this year. Ever since Solo Sikoa took charge of The Bloodline and brought in new members, fans have been very excited with the prospect of Roman Reigns' OG Bloodline confronting them inside the iconic steel structure.

While many fans envisioned a 4-on-4 battle for family supremacy, Triple H and Co. widened the story, making each team find a fifth member. This has allowed the storyline to explore the effects of Roman Reigns' past actions in a perspective that is broader than family but arguably rushed his reunion with Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso.
