4 possible stipulations for Damian Priest vs. Jey Uso at WWE Backlash
WWE's next massive Premium Live Event is just a few weeks ago. The Sports Entertainment juggernaut will host Backlash France live from the LDLC Arena in Decines-Charpieu in Lyon Metropolis, France.
So far, just two matches have been confirmed for the big show. This includes Jey Uso challenging Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship and Cody Rhodes defending his Undisputed WWE Title against AJ Styles.
Jey vs. Damian is an interesting feud, as both men are new to World Wrestling Entertainment's main event scene. Jey Uso left The Bloodline last year and has established himself as a top singles star on RAW. Meanwhile, Damian won his first World Title just a few weeks ago.
There is a strong chance that Jey and Damian won't simply fight in a standard match after the happenings on RAW this week. This article will tackle a handful of possible stipulations for the impending World Heavyweight Championship match.
Below are four possible stipulations for Damian Priest vs. Jey Uso at WWE Backlash:
#4. JD McDonagh could be the special guest referee
Jey Uso and Damian Priest kicked off WWE Monday Night RAW this week. As noted, the pair are set to clash at Backlash France. During the segment, The Archer of Infamy mentioned how he was proud of Jey's growth while also making it clear that he is better than Uso.
Interestingly, JD McDonagh showed up and attempted to blindside Jey Uso. Things became chaotic, and The Judgment Day member nearly crashed into Damian and even caused a distraction that led to Priest eating a Superkick. Predictably, The Archer of Infamy wasn't impressed.
With the tension between Priest and McDonagh visible, WWE Creative could add a twist to the World Heavyweight Title match by appointing The Irish Ace as the special guest referee. McDonagh's involvement as a referee could open up the possibility of a mouth-watering finish, with The Judgment Day costing Priest the World Title.
#3. Judgment Day could be banned from ringside at WWE Backlash France
The Judgment Day has long been one of the most dominant factions in all of WWE. The stable includes Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and the injured Rhea Ripley.
The stable has made it a habit to interfere in each other's matches. Rhea Ripley, in particular, was known for her antics to help the guys stand tall. There's a chance WWE officials could recognize this ongoing situation and put a stop to it.
Adam Pearce or Triple H may add a stipulation to the encounter that bans all Judgment Day members from being ringside. This would be the best way to guarantee that the clash between Jey Uso and Damian Priest is fair. Can Priest prove himself with nobody around to help?
#2. They could clash in a Street Fight
The Street Fight is a classic wrestling gimmick match. While the rules can vary depending on the era or wrestling promotion, the same basics typically apply. Generally, there is no countout and no disqualification.
A Street Fight could be the perfect stipulation for Damian and Jey. Both men are talented brawlers who excel when things are chaotic. The duo having a ''No Hold Barred'' brawl would seemingly be a positive for either man. Plus, with their friends likely lingering around, it prevents a pesky disqualification finish.
#1. Jey Uso and Damian Priest could be locked inside a Steel Cage
Arguably the most iconic wrestling stipulation is the Steel Cage Match. While the structure nowadays has less flair than a WarGames or Hell in a Cell Match, wrestlers clashing inside a steel cage always felt like bigger stars, especially with the knowledge that the match could get bloody and dangerous.
For a long time, the Steel Cage Match meant very little in WWE. The escape through the door finish and the fact that blood was banned meant wrestlers were restricted, and the gimmick lost its charm. Now that Triple H is in charge, however, it could be time to bring it back, and in a big way.
We have seen Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens bleed on WWE television recently, so there's a chance Jey and Damian could have a violent classic Steel Cage Match at Backlash France 2024. It would also be the perfect way to avoid any interference, as the cage, at least in theory, prevents anybody from entering the ring.
