4 Possible WWE returns that should be postponed until SummerSlam
WWE's next premium live event is the 2024 edition of Money in the Bank, which will air on Saturday. This show is set to be a big one, but it won't be the most notable event the global juggernaut will present this summer.
The biggest event of the season will be SummerSlam. It is set to air live from the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 3, 2024. So far, not much is known in terms of what the card will look like. Nia Jax has a world title opportunity, as does Gunther. Otherwise, the lineup remains unclear. This means numerous stars could appear, and many could even make their return.
This article will specifically look at four absent performers who could be returning to action in the coming months but would benefit from waiting until SummerSlam. This includes arguably the biggest name in the country, a potential Wyatt Sicks member, and beyond.
#4 Alexa Bliss' return could happen by SummerSlam with The Wyatt Sicks
Alexa Bliss is a decorated WWE star. She is a multi-time Women's Tag Team Champion, who held the gold with different partners. Beyond that, she is also a former Women's Champion.
She hasn't been seen on WWE programming since January 2024. Before disappearing from TV, she was teasing a reunion with Bray Wyatt. It was later revealed that the former champion was pregnant.
Fast forward to today, and Bliss could return to the ring at any time. If she does make a comeback, it will likely be with Uncle Howdy and The Wyatt Sicks. If that is indeed the case, she should return at SummerSlam in her home state of Ohio, where fans will be the most excited to see her in action.
#3 Rhea Ripley's arrival is highly anticipated
Rhea Ripley is arguably the top female star in pro wrestling today. She is currently on the WWE Monday Night RAW brand and is one of the members of The Judgment Day. Ripley is also a multi-time world champion.
The Eradicator of The Judgment Day has been out of action due to injury. She and Liv Morgan had a backstage fight, leading to the former sustaining an injury. Amid Ripley's absence, fans have been eagerly awaiting her arrival, expecting to see her exact revenge on Morgan.
The perfect place for Rhea Ripley to make her return, if she's healthy, is SummerSlam. Despite being positioned as a heel, Ripley is loved by the WWE Universe. Now that she's being showcased in a sympathetic light, the entire stadium will erupt if she makes a comeback in Ohio.
#2 Roman Reigns will be back on WWE television sooner or later
Roman Reigns is arguably the top WWE star of this era. He is a multi-time world champion and has headlined WrestleMania more times than just about anybody. He's also a massive name outside the ring.
Unlike the other talented performers on this list, Reigns' absence from WWE television has nothing to do with health complications or injuries of any kind. Instead, he is simply taking time off.
Following the events of last week's SmackDown, where Paul Heyman was brutalized by the new Bloodline, Reigns' return feels inevitable. While it could happen at Money in the Bank or a future SmackDown, fans would erupt if it was held off until SummerSlam.
#1 Raquel Rodriguez could make a splash
Raquel Rodriguez is a powerhouse who has been with WWE for many years now. She started in the Mae Young Classic and on NXT, where she held both singles and tag team gold. Upon joining the main roster, Big Mami Cool has picked up the Women's Tag Team Title.
The powerful Rodriguez has been away from television for quite some time. Outside of three matches in February, she has been rarely seen on WWE television since early December. Big Mami Cool's absence is related to a battle with mast cell activation syndrome.
If Rodriguez is ready to return to television, doing so at SummerSlam could make for a nice surprise. An interesting twist could see the babyface turn heel and help Liv Morgan defend her title, perhaps against Rhea Ripley or some other top fan-favorite talent.
