4 Reasons why Dakota Kai lost the Money in the Bank qualifying match on WWE RAW (July 1, 2024)

Dakota Kai competed in a massive Triple Threat match tonight on WWE RAW in Boston. She battled Zoey Stark and Ivy Nile to determine which star would qualify for the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match at the premium live event this weekend.

Damage CTRL's Kairi Sane attempted to get involved, but it was still not enough. Zoey Stark connected with the Z360 on Kai for the pinfall victory and will be competing in the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match on July 6.

Listed below are four reasons why Dakota Kai lost the Money in the Bank qualifying match on tonight's edition of WWE RAW.

#4. WWE has bigger plans for Dakota Kai on RAW

Damage CTRL used to be led by Bayley before the faction betrayed her following Royal Rumble earlier this year. The Role Model appeared to be set on facing Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania XL after winning the Women's Royal Rumble match but overheard her former faction plotting to betray her. Bayley got her revenge by defeating IYO SKY at 'Mania XL.

The group has been floundering on RAW since switching brands in this year's WWE Draft. The promotion could plan for Dakota Kai to officially take over Damage CTRL and guide the group to success again on WWE RAW.

#3. WWE doesn't view Dakota Kai as a singles star

Dakota Kai recently got emotional while discussing never getting a singles opportunity on WWE's main roster. However, during her stream on Twitch, she claimed she wasn't crying; she was suffering from allergies.

Kai wasn't originally booked for the Queen of the Ring tournament but replaced Asuka after she suffered an injury. Kai did not have an impressive showing in the tournament and was eliminated in the first round. The promotion could not see Kai as a singles star on the main roster, and she may never get the opportunity she was looking for.

#2. Zoey Stark could win the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match

Zoey Stark defeated Dakota Kai and Ivy Nile in the Triple Threat match tonight to qualify for the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match. She will be competing against Chelsea Green, Naomi, IYO SKY, Tiffany Stratton, and Lyra Valkyria in the match at the Premium Live Event, with the winner earning a future title shot.

The 30-year-old has been in an unsuccessful tag team with Shayna Baszler in recent months on RAW, and the promotion may finally want to do something noteworthy with Stark. WWE could be planning on having Stark win the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match and emerge as a singles star in the coming weeks.

Women's Tag Team Champions The Unholy Union attacked Kairi Sane during the match tonight, and the distraction allowed Zoey Stark to pick up the victory. Kai and Sane may look to get revenge on the champions in the coming weeks.

The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) dropped the Women's Tag Team Championships to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair at Backlash in France. Cargill and Belair's title reign was put to an end at Clash at the Castle at the hands of The Unholy Union.

Kai could replace The Empress of Tomorrow as Kairi Sane's tag team partner as the veteran recovers from her knee injury. Kai and Sane could capture the Women's Tag Team Championships from The Unholy Union in the months ahead and bring gold back to Damage CTRL.
