4 reasons why LA Knight should dethrone Logan Paul at WWE SummerSlam for the United States Championship
WWE SummerSlam is the Sports Entertainment Titan's next massive premium live event. the big show will be airing live on August 3rd, 2024, and will be held at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
There have been four major World Title matches confirmed for the massive event, but following SmackDown, another bout has been announced. Logan Paul is set to defend his United States Championship against LA Knight.
This is a huge match, as both men are big stars. This is also a heated bout, as the two have had tension for many weeks now. In fact, they've even gotten physical on many occasions, including SmackDown last night.
While the end of the match is not yet clear, there is reason to believe that a title change should take place. This article will tackle a handful of reasons as to why Logan should finally be dethroned at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
Below are four reasons why LA Knight should dethrone Logan Paul at WWE SummerSlam for the United States Championship.
#4. LA Knight is extremely over with the WWE audience
LA Knight is an unusual story. He has been wrestling for a very long time and never quite seemed to break out. This began to change when he joined WWE NXT several years ago, but he then faced a major obstacle on the main roster: Vince McMahon.
The former owner of WWE cast LA Knight as Max Dupri, effectively making him a manager. Once Triple H took over, however, this was corrected and Knight has gone on to become extremely popular. Fans love to cheer for him more than almost anybody else in wrestling.
From being the Maximum Male Models to becoming one of the most over stars in pro wrestling deserves a reward. If fans love The Megastar as much as they do, it would be foolish for Triple H to not capitalize on that and give Knight a major title reign. This match could be Knight's reward.
#3. Logan Paul is a part-timer
Part of the appeal of LA Knight is, despite being The Megastar, he does have an "every man" quality about him. He feels relatable in a way similar to Stone Cold Steve Austin. An aspect of that is the fact that LA Knight is always around and putting in the work.
Logan Paul, on the other hand, is not relatable in that sense, specifically when it comes to his schedule. He is a part-timer who is not around that much. Just like when Roman Reigns was the World Champion the people turned on the creative because they barely saw the Undisputed Title. If history repeats, this can cause trouble for WWE.
It is difficult to book a part-time champion and SmackDown needs somebody who is around weekly. This is especially true when the reigning champion barely defends his title. For that reason alone, Knight should win the United States Title.
#2. The Megastar is yet to hold gold on the main roster
LA Knight has been in the wrestling industry for quite a long time. The 41-year-old first started wrestling back in 2003, marking over two decades of in-ring action. During his time in the industry, he won gold in various indie promotions and even in TNA Wrestling.
His time in WWE has been a different story, however. Outside of the unofficial Million Dollar Championship, which was briefly brought back on NXT, LA is yet to hold a title in the company. On RAW and SmackDown specifically, Knight hasn't even sniffed a title reign.
Given how over he is and how long he has been working, the fact that LA Knight is yet to hold a title in WWE is borderline criminal. That can be remedied come SummerSlam where he can finally win his first title in the company.
#1. Paul's reign has gone on for long enough
Logan Paul won the coveted WWE United States Championship back on November 4th, 2023. He defeated Rey Mysterio in a bout at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia to claim the prize.
Fast forward well over half a year later and Paul has wrestled just six times. Of those six matches, only two were championship defenses. That is an incredibly long reign with virtually nothing happening in it outside of defending the gold against Kevin Owens and Randy Orton.
WWE and Triple H would be wise to finally get the title off of Logan. He has held the title for long enough to reference his reign as important, but with so few defenses, it just isn't logical to keep the belt suspended for much longer. This has to be Knight's time.
