4 reasons why Michin should become the inaugural WWE NXT Women's North American Champion

About a month ago WWE announced a brand new championship. For the first time in the history of the company, a women's mid-card title is on the way. While it isn't a Women's Intercontinental Championship like so many hoped, it is still intriguing.

NXT General Manager Ava introduced the Women's North American Title on Tuesday night. The belt, while not officially active yet, was showcased during the most recent episode of NXT.

There will be a Six-Woman Ladder Match to determine the first-ever champion and all the spots have been accounted for. SmackDown's Michin was one of the last two to qualify, after defeating Tatum Paxley on NXT last night to earn a spot in the bout.

While everybody involved could believably win the match, it should be Michin who stands tall and becomes the first-ever Women's North American Champion. This article will look at a handful of reasons why The Blasian Baddie should be the one to hold the gold.

Below are four reasons why Michin should become the inaugural WWE NXT Women's North American Champion.

#4. The talented Mia Yim is an underrated and talented performer

The first reason why Michin should become the inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion just comes down to ability. Some fans sleep on the fact that she is actually a very good in-ring worker, who also has a lot of personality and can cut a solid promo.

While she doesn't always get a chance to showcase her skills, the WWE performer absolutely delivers when given a chance. A good example of this is her match with IYO SKY earlier this year. The two put on a banger on SmackDown and Michin can no doubt have many more if she sticks around on NXT for a significant period of time.

#3. Michin is yet to hold a title in the company

Mia Yim first broke into pro wrestling around 2010. Over the next several years, she'd have a handful of opportunities to work with WWE, but never in a full-time capacity until she signed with the sports entertainment juggernaut in 2018.

From there, Michin spent two years on the NXT brand before joining the main roster as part of the failed RETRIBUTION stable. The re-branded character and faction didn't work and Mia was released in 2021 but re-hired in 2022 under the Triple H-led regime.

In total, she has had around five years in WWE. Despite that, Michin is yet to hold a title on any brand. Winning the Women's North American Championship would break her titleless streak and perhaps give her momentum to win more gold in the future.

#2. She is lost in the shuffle on the main roster

As noted, Michin's first main roster run in WWE was with the RETRIBUTION stable. This took place during the pandemic and under Vince McMahon's lead. The creative was poor and the run, as a whole, was a complete disaster.

Upon re-joining WWE in 2022, many had high hopes. Michin joined AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson in The O.C. and the group had a lot of momentum until a freak injury to AJ led to them mostly remaining away from television. Once AJ returned to the ring, he left the group, which caused Michin's career to stall.

At this point, there isn't much happening with Michin on the main roster. She remains on SmackDown and could be used better, but she simply isn't. If Michin isn't going to be used effectively on the blue brand, it would make sense for her to be used better on NXT until a good SmackDown spot makes itself available.

#1. Michin would give the new WWE title name value and credibility

The final reason why Michin should be the one to capture the WWE NXT Women's North American Championship first comes down to credibility. It is key with any title, but especially when a new championship is introduced.

Ricochet winning the WWE Speed Title makes sense given his wrestling style. Seth Rollins becoming the first-ever World Heavyweight Champion was logical because he's a workhorse who made the title important.

Michin is very talented, much like Ricochet, but she also has more name value than most NXT women and can be a workhorse like Seth Rollins. With how hard she would work and the popularity Michin has, The Blasian Baddie being the first champion will make the title more significant immediately.
