4 Reasons why Sami Zayn reunited with Roman Reigns on WWE SmackDown
Sami Zayn finally picked his side in The Bloodline Saga on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. The Underdog from the Underground initially wanted to stay out of the family drama due to the emotional toll it took on him previously.
He even tried to keep Jey Uso from revisiting one of the more traumatic times of his career. Solo Sikoa's Bloodline tried to persuade The Yeet Master and, in turn, the latter tried to recruit Sami to his side.
The Original Tribal Chief has a lot of apologizing to do since he did many bad things to several WWE Superstars while atop the company. Sami Zayn finally joined Roman Reigns' side on SmackDown for the following possible four reasons.
#4. He is currently without a direction on RAW
Sami Zayn won the Intercontinental Championship from Gunther at WrestleMania XL. He then lost the title to Bron Breakker at SummerSlam 2024 and has been looking for a meaningful direction ever since.
The Canadian star even challenged The Ring General for the World Heavyweight Championship but came up short. Without a huge angle on RAW, his involvement in The Bloodline Saga makes too much sense to ignore.
Without an anchor tying him to Monday nights, Zayn can go back and forth between SmackDown and RAW. He can make anything work due to his amazing ability to tell stories in and out of the ring. The 40-year-old star will have plenty of history to play upon on the way to the Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 Premium Live Event.
#3. He stands up to bullies on RAW and SmackDown
One thing Sami Zayn has routinely done in his WWE career is stand up to bullies. He did so against Kevin Owens at one point and opposed Roman Reigns and the original Bloodline a few years ago. It led to some of the best storytelling in wrestling history.
Zayn helped chip away at the facade of the tyrannical Bloodline by taking the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship away from The Usos at WrestleMania 39. He has also stood up to Gunther and The Judgment Day this year.
The Underdog from the Underground does not like seeing others oppressed, so standing up to the top bully on SmackDown fits his operating manual.
#2. His involvement makes sense for Survivor Series: WarGames due to history
A simple reason for Sami Zayn reuniting with Roman Reigns on SmackDown is numbers. For most of his reign of terror, Solo Sikoa has always had one more ally than his enemies. It was how he added Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu to his side.
He even made the numbers reference when claiming that Sami was the fifth member of his team. Since Roman's side was down four to three, Zayn had to join The Original Tribal Chief's side to even the numbers.
Zayn also has history alongside the original Bloodline in the Men's WarGames Match. He ultimately pledged his loyalty to Roman at Survivor Series: WarGames 2022, sacrificing his best friend, Kevin Owens, in the process.
#1. He's loyal to Jey Uso
Before Crown Jewel 2024, Sami Zayn reasoned with Jey Uso to stay out of the drama between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. He reminded The Yeet Master of the psychological trauma that his cousin put him through over four years.
Jey tried to remain his own man but Solo forced his hand when costing the former the Intercontinental Championship. The Yeet Master then tried to recruit Zayn despite Jimmy Uso claiming that they did not need him.
Sami was rejected by everyone else other than Jey since he was not a part of the family. However, it was Zayn who encouraged and supported Jey when he went out on his own. The Canadian star likely caved in on SmackDown to support one of his closest friends.
Jimmy and Roman do not understand their bond because they either give orders or simply follow them. Jey and Sami had nuances to their characters to showcase their struggles. Reigns and Jimmy's stubbornness has resulted in numerous beatdowns that they could have avoided if they realized their past errors.
