4 reasons why The Awesome Truth lost the World Tag Team titles on WWE RAW: More drama in the Judgment Day?

The Awesome Truth's reign as World Tag Team Champions ended when they lost to the Judgment Day on the latest episode of RAW.

Liv Morgan tricked R-Truth into giving the Judgment Day a tag team title shot earlier in the night. Finn Balor stated that he'd take a title shot any way he could get it before the night's main event.

After interference from Morgan, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh defeated the Awesome Truth to become the new World Tag Team Champions. R-Truth and The Miz lost the titles on RAW for the next four reasons.

#4. The win at WrestleMania 40 was more about the nostalgic moment

When R-Truth and The Miz won the titles in the ladder match at WrestleMania 40, it signified a slight bit of redemption for the former 24/7 Champion. He tried to join the Judgment Day but was routinely bullied and assaulted for his confusion.

Having The Miz reform The Awesome Truth with R-Truth was nostalgic but also likely done to wrest the titles from the Judgment Day. Truth was on fire during his bid to join the faction and he was rewarded with a WrestleMania moment over his enemies.

That moment was in April and it's nearly July. While it was nice to see the long-time veteran get a title, the time had come for a title switch.

#3. The RAW act was nearing its end

The Miz and R-Truth play well off of each other but Truth can do that with any star in WWE. The main reason the Awesome Truth reformed was to combat the Judgment Day.

The pairing doesn't offer much other than misunderstandings due to Truth's goofiness. They are a nostalgic act at a time when the roster is only getting bigger and full of extremely talented stars.

The Awesome Truth didn't necessarily need a long run to validate themselves. If they were a newer team, their run as Champions would matter more. Truth can still interact with the RAW roster and be over with the fans. The Miz will recover like he always does.

#2. Other WWE tag teams could benefit from them

While the Judgment Day is the former Champions, any title change would have helped move the RAW tag team division forward. The Judgment Day is a focal point of RAW and has several segments throughout the night.

Having gold increases the group's credibility, but many other teams on RAW could use the rub associated with being tag team Champs. The New Catch Republic, the Creeds, the Authors of Pain, or LWO could gain legitimacy with some titles.

They can still get that rub by beating Finn Balor and JD McDonagh for the titles. It also may be a transitional situation where the team that beats the Judgment Day is the team to have a lengthy run.

#1. It adds another layer to the ongoing group drama on RAW

The Judgment Day appeared in at least three segments/matches on the latest RAW. When Liv Morgan is factored into the storytelling with the group, that number increases.

Since she's on her Revenge Tour, Morgan has interjected herself into group business. Damian Priest and JD McDonagh don't seem to like it while Finn Balor and Carlito appear indifferent (Balor) or interested (Carlito).

Morgan secured the title shot for the Judgment Day and helped Balor and McDonagh win the titles. She can say she was instrumental in the faction regaining the titles (and she's right). It would weave another layer into how the group operates.

Some will trust her because it led to gold while others will continue to question and doubt her true motives. She did repeatedly say she was on The Liv Morgan Revenge Tour when she knocked Rhea Ripley out of commission.
