4 reasons WWE World Heavyweight Champion should not face Goldberg

Bad Blood is in the books, and the WWE Universe is still buzzing about the exciting events that took place on that night in Atlanta. From top to bottom, the card was full of action, and surprises. One of the biggest surprises was the legends who were in attendance. One of those legends was WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg.

Goldberg entered the wrestling scene in the late 1990s and quickly became one of the key stars of the Monday Night Wars. He made a name for himself by squashing his opponents in minutes, often in seconds. After planting his foe with a spear, Bill Goldberg immediately asked, 'Who's next?'

After hopping the guard rail at Bad Blood, Goldberg attempted to go after Gunther but was met by a wall of security officers. It appears that we may be set for a clash between the World Heavyweight Champ and the Hall of Fame legend, but many feel this may be a bad idea.

Here is our list of 4 reasons why Gunther vs. Goldberg should not happen:

#4 - Goldberg can no longer match Gunther's intensity

Gunther has enjoyed an incredible meteoric rise to dominance and is one of the top stars on the planet. Starting with his beginnings in NXT, Gunther completely carried the UK brand and became the longest-reigning NXT UK Champion in history. That success carried over with him onto the main roster. One of the reasons for his success is his sheer intensity.

Throughout his in-ring career, Goldberg was unquestionably one of the most intense stars who ever laced up a pair of boots. Goldberg was known for coming in, completely decimating his opponent, then leaving. When it comes to intensity, very few have ever matched Goldberg. He is far and away one of the best to utilize raw intensity in the ring. However, Father Time catches up with everyone, and now that he's pushing 60, it's unlikely he can match Gunther in that regard.

#3 - Gunther will expose Goldbergs' limitations

During Goldberg's rise to wrestling dominance, he was not necessarily known for being the greatest technical wrestler. His skill set was typically limited to just a few maneuvers, primarily his patented spear and the jackhammer. With that said, he was effective, and his moves did the job for his purpose.

One of the glaring differences between Gunther and Goldberg is the 20 years that separate the two. Another big difference is the level of in-ring abilities. Gunther is far superior in regards to his technical abilities in the ring. Most fans remember Goldberg for his patented spear, as well as the jackhammer. However, he was still effective despite his limitations skill-wise. Not only that, Goldberg's best days are behind him, and it would be difficult for him to keep up with any current WWE Superstar, let alone The Ring General.

#2 - This match would tarnish Gunthers' record

The WWE Universe has a perception of Gunther that puts him in an elite status. He is not only incredibly gifted technically, but he also has the look, in-ring presence, and charisma needed to make him the total package. This has enabled him to become the top star he is today. WWE sees money in Gunther, which is why they have given him so many championship opportunities, and main event moments.

Within the wrestling fan community, there is a consensus that many are tired of seeing legends, and former stars from the past come back for a short period, just for a quick payday. With the Hall of Famer being out of action for such a long period, it would not benefit the World Heavyweight Champion to battle him. Plus, WWE would likely have Goldberg beat Gunther, which would devalue everything he has done up to this point in his career.

#1 - New era: there are more worthy active WWE Superstars

Goldberg will probably always have a good image amongst the fan base. He typically keeps his nose clean and rarely finds himself mixed up with unnecessary controversy. Goldberg's contributions to professional wrestling make him an asset, and the industry will always appreciate him. But it's time for new blood in the spotlight.

The current crop of WWE talent is better than it has been in a long time. There are some extremely talented superstars on all of their rosters, including NXT. If Triple H booked Goldberg to face Gunther, it would take the spotlight away from some of the current stars who have been grinding every week and are much more worthy of a potential shot at Gunther's title.
