4 serious WWE backstage incidents Roman Reigns was a part of
Roman Reigns is one of the most beloved and successful heel in WWE in recent years, though he has been working as a babyface since returning at this year's SummerSlam. Interestingly, some of his villainous side also landed him in some hot waters backstage.
Roman Reigns has gone through a lot since joining WWE in 2010, both backstage and on-screen. As many may know, he wasn't initially the most well-liked superstar among fans and didn't receive a great reaction from them. As it turns out, while he was experiencing some difficulties with the crowd, he also had some issues behind the scenes.
For this list, we will look at four serious WWE backstage incidents that involved Roman Reigns.
#4. Enzo Amore was kicked out of the locker room by Roman Reigns
Enzo Amore was arguably one of the most popular superstars in WWE in 2016 while teaming up with Big Cass. While many fans enjoyed watching him on-screen, he reportedly didn't have the best reception backstage.
In 2017, it was reported that Enzo got into trouble with his former fellow superstars when he invited "questionable guests" into the locker room and had them take photos with the stars. As a result, Roman Reigns removed him from the locker room.
Former WWE referee Mike Chioda revealed this incident during an interview in 2021. There were even reports that Enzo was forced to change buses during a tour, and the former superstar stated he had heat with somebody else.
#3. Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens after the 2022 WWE Survivor Series
The former Universal Champion and Kevin Owens were on opposite teams during the 2022 Survivor Series: WarGames. However, the clash between both men continued backstage after a spot didn't go as planned.
During the match, Kevin slapped Roman harder than planned, leaving the former Undisputed WWE Champion with a bruised left eye and initially even thought to have caused the latter a ruptured eardrum. According to reports, Reigns lashed out in a rant, which was more of a heat-of-the-moment reaction. Additionally, it was noted that it had all blown over after 20 minutes and had no lingering issues about it.
#2. Roman Reigns got into a disagreement with Nia Jax in 2020
The 2020 Survivor Series featured SmackDown's Universal Champion, Roman going against RAW's WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre. However, another fight was apparently going on backstage between Nia Jax and the OTC.
It was rumored that for the traditional Five-on-Five Women's Survivor Series Elimination match, Nia and Lana were supposed to include a spot in which the former superstar was going to be put through the announce table by Jax.
However, Reigns pushed back against this idea as he and Drew had the same spot for their match later that evening. As a result, the table spot was nixed from the women's match.
#1. Randy Orton and Roman Reigns had several backstage encounters
Randy Orton and Reigns had several encounters inside the squared circle throughout the years. However, the superstars also had a couple of clashes backstage in the past few years.
Their first backstage encounter reportedly happened in 2013 after a house show, wherein they botched a spot and got into a shouting match later on. Since Reigns was still young in his wrestling career, while Orton was already an established star, it didn't reflect well on the OTC. In 2014, they apparently had another argument after The Viper was accused of slowing down Roman's push.
