4 Signs Judgment Day will lose the World Tag Team Championship on next week's WWE RAW
The Judgment Day had a very eventful night on the final episode of WWE RAW before Saturday Night's Main Event. Liv Morgan set the pace for the show, defeating Dakota Kai in a non-title match and then standing tall over IYO SKY after a clever sneak attack.
Finn Balor and the rest of the boys then took out both Gunther and Damian Priest, sending a message to The Prince's rivals. However, Balor's night was not quite done, with Adam Pearce throwing not one, but two curveballs into his clubhouse celebrations.
Not only will Priest be added to his World Heavyweight Title bout with The Ring General, but he and JD McDonagh will have to defend the World Tag Team Championship on the red brand two days later.
It's anyone's guess who will win the Triple Threat world title bout, with the champion not needing to be pinned to lose. However, all signs point to the Irish duo losing the latter match against The War Raiders.
Here are four signs that The Judgment Day will lose the World Tag Team Championship on WWE RAW next week:
#4 The War Raiders can't afford to lose another title match against The Judgment Day
After months on the shelf due to injury, The War Raiders returned to WWE with a few tweaks to their presentation. The former Viking Raiders took their gimmick back to basics, focusing on substance and efficiency rather than theatrics. They quickly earned a shot at the World Tag Team Championship. However, they lost to Finn Balor and JD McDonagh via interference from the rest of The Judgment Day.
The Raiders' momentum is now at a critical juncture where they can't afford to take another loss, especially a clean one, or else their reset will be wasted. Triple H and Co. need to strike while the iron is hot just as they did with the Motor City Machine Guns and The Bloodline on SmackDown. All this points to Erik and Ivar leaving next week's RAW as the new World Tag Team Champions.
#3 The issues with Judgment Day's World Tag Team Title reign have been woven into WWE RAW's storylines
Finn Balor and JD McDonagh won the World Tag Team Championship from Awesome Truth on the June 24, 2024, episode of WWE RAW. Over 170 days later, they have only defended the gold twice on television, a fact that the internet fanbase is acutely aware of. Fans have vocally criticized this sporadic frequency of title defenses, so much so that the company has acknowledged it, too.
Adam Pearce has repeatedly addressed Balor and McDonagh's kayfabe reluctance to defend their title with their attention focused on Damian Priest. This has set up the need for someone to "liberate" the gold from their grasp and get the tag title scene back on track. It's unlikely that this story thread will be stretched out into 2025, so all signs point to The War Raiders dethroning The Judgment Day.
#2 The rest of Judgment Day will be banned from ringside for the WWE World Tag Team Title match
Since its inception and throughout its various iterations, one of the hallmarks of The Judgment Day has been its usage of the numbers game to overcome opponents.
This strength in numbers has spurred the group on to major success, with nine championships won in less than three years. The same advantage was on display in their last World Tag Title defense, helping them defeat The War Raiders.
With Carlito, Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan, and Raquel Rodriguez banned from ringside, the Irish duo's upcoming defense against Erik and Ivar is unlikely to go well. The Raiders are babyfaces, and they carry a lot of momentum having recently returned with a new look, so losing clean to Balor and McDonagh would be very damaging, that too in Ivar's hometown of Boston.
Given that interference has been ruled out, it is a huge sign that the former Viking Experience will unseat the Irishmen as World Tag Team Champions.
#1 Finn Balor's rumored singles plans point to an imminent move away from the WWE World Tag Team Title scene
Finn Balor is a former Universal and two-time NXT Champion, having been one of the black-and-silver brand's greatest stars under Triple H's leadership. Since The Game took over main roster creative duties, Balor has been a fixture on WWE RAW, winning three tag team titles and competing for the World Heavyweight Championship multiple times.
It has been eight years since The Prince was world champion, and if rumors are to be believed, he is set to be pushed to that status again in 2025. Given that he is competing for the World Heavyweight Championship as soon as Saturday Night's Main Event, these plans already seem to be in motion.
For Balor to fully concentrate on maximizing his singles potential, he may have to move away from the tag team division. The first step is losing the World Tag Team Title to The War Raiders next week on WWE RAW.
