Wrestling is performed in front of a live crowd on a regular basis, which means that more often than not there are things that go wrong. Botches occur even in the biggest matches on the card and can be a huge part of pay-per-views that are on the same level as WrestleMania, which is why WWE does everything they can to ensure that there are failsafe's in place.

Championship matches are much harder to cover if the finish of the match is botched since a title will be forced to change hands, or the WWE Universe will realize that the match ending was ruined and the company would have to explain themselves.

Interestingly, this has actually happened a number of times over the past few years without the WWE Universe even knowing, here are some of the most recent and interesting times a Championship accidentally changed hands on WWE TV.

#4. Sheamus - TLC 2009

The iconic match between Sheamus and John Cena from Tables, Ladders, and Chairs back in 2009 is perhaps most memorable because WWE gave their biggest Championship at the time to a superstar who had been in the company for less than a year, which was obviously a shock.

The Irish star won the match by putting Cena through a table, but reports following the show suggested that the actual ending was supposed to see both men go through the table at the same time which would have meant that Cena would have retained.

It is unknown if this is the truth, but speculation has followed Sheamus for the rest of his career as many fans wonder if his first World Championship reign was only made a reality because the table didn't break.
