4 Ways the first-ever WWE Women's United States Champion can be crowned
WWE has a wealth of championships for stars to collect. Women, in particular, have more belts to pursue across all three brands than ever before. Some are top-tier titles, reserved for the top stars of the brand.
This includes RAW's Women's World Championship, SmackDown's WWE Women's Championship, and the developmental brand's NXT Women's Championship. Meanwhile, secondary belts such as the NXT Women's North American Championship and the Women's Speed Championship have also been introduced.
In exciting news for fans of women's wrestling, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis revealed yet another title for the female superstars this past Friday. The Women's United States Championship will soon be arriving.
However, no details have been released on how the inaugural champion would be crowned. This article will take a look at a handful of different ways the Triple H-led creative team could determine the first-ever Women's United States Champion.
Below are four ways the first-ever WWE Women's United States Champion can be crowned:
#4. A tournament could be held on SmackDown and maybe RAW
It isn't quite clear whether the Women's United States Championship will be a SmackDown-exclusive title or if it will be similar to the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, which floats across multiple brands. Michael Cole seemingly hinted it was duel-branded, but Aldis made it sound like the opposite.
Regardless, the Triple H-led creative team could have a tournament to decide the first-ever champion. It could either be an eight-woman tournament featuring just stars from SmackDown or a 16-woman tournament featuring talent from both the blue brand and Monday Night RAW.
The likes of Zelina Vega, Dakota Kai if healthy, Michin, Chelsea Green, and others have been starving for championship opportunities. If a tournament is open to one or both brands, many underrated stars will get a chance to become the inaugural champion.
#3. WWE could have a Six-Pack Elimination Challenge Match
With the introduction of the WWE Women's United States Championship, some fans recalled the time when the SmackDown Women's Title (Women's World Championship) debuted in August 2016.
The inaugural champion was Becky Lynch, but she wasn't simply handed the title. Instead, The Man managed to defeat Carmella, Nikki Bella, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, and Natalya in a Six-Pack Elimination Challenge Match at the Backlash PLE. This allowed Becky to make history in WWE.
Nick Aldis and company officials may want to follow this same path with the Women's United States Championship. SmackDown stars such as Naomi, Blair Davenport, Piper Niven, Chelsea Green, Michin, and Candice LeRae could battle to determine the first-ever champion.
#2. A Battle Royal could be held
A Battle Royal is one of the most fun match types in pro wrestling. WWE has mastered the match type with the yearly Men's and Women's Royal Rumble Matches, but the bout can be done in different ways. The standard Battle Royal, for example, is still often used to this very day.
A recent example took place on RAW when IYO SKY last eliminated Lyra Valkyria to earn a Women's World Championship match. Earlier this year, Becky Lynch won a Women's Battle Royal to capture the prestigious Women's World Championship.
If both RAW and SmackDown are included to determine the inaugural champion, Aldis may decide to book a Battle Royal to fit as many people into the match as possible. A 30-woman bout featuring the bulk of the stars from RAW, SmackDown, and perhaps even a few NXT surprises would be quite entertaining.
#1. WWE could replicate how the inaugural Women's North American Champion was crowned
Six-Pack Challenges in WWE have been crucial for the women's division. As noted previously, the inaugural SmackDown Women's Champion was decided in the unique match type.
In a twist, the first-ever NXT Women's North American Champion was also crowned in a six-woman bout, but it was even more intense. Several WWE NXT stars fought in a Six-Woman Ladder Match at Battleground 2024 to crown the inaugural champion, who ended up being Kelani Jordan.
The Game could decide to take this Six-Woman Ladder Match concept and apply it to determine the first-ever Women's US Champion. The aforementioned names could be involved, but so could others, such as Bayley or even Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre. The wrestlers would need to go through hell to make history, but holding the title over their heads would make the trials and tribulations worth it.
