4 ways The Lucha Brothers can make their WWE debut on SmackDown

If the reports touting The Lucha Brothers signing with WWE are true, that opens a lot of exciting possibilities. However, for them to be treated as big deals, their debut has to be impactful.

As of now, the word going around is that the celebrated duo would be bypassing NXT and starting directly on the main roster. While both brands' tag team divisions could use a strong boost, SmackDown would be a better landing spot for The Lucha Brothers due to the show boasting more open spots for credible stars to thrive.

If the gifted AEW originals are indeed bound for the blue brand, what would be the best way to introduce them? The main roster debuts of Damage CTRL, Jade Cargill, Tama Tonga & Jacob Fatu are proof that WWE's current regime knows how to launch an act in headline-making fashion.

That said, here are four ways The Lucha Brothers can make their highly-anticipated SmackDown arrivals.

#4. WWE's social media team could announce The Lucha Brothers' debut match ahead of time

The wrestling fans active on social media make up only a minute portion of the global WWE audience. Yet, the company's strong social presence could help with adding hype around ongoing shows and storylines.

For starters, the head-turning signing of Jade Cargill first made rounds on social media. Additionally, the Internet Wrestling Community's unwavering support for Cody Rhodes helped him regain his main event spot at WrestleMania XL.

So, despite only a small percentage of wrestling fans being internet enthusiasts, these platforms have come in handy on numerous occasions. Thus, The Lucha Brothers' potential debut on SmackDown could very well be a headline on WWE's X and Insta accounts.

Advertising them for a match ahead of time could do wonders for them and increase their chances of receiving a thunderous pop in their first outing. Whether they compete against a local tag team or share the ring with members of the current SmackDown roster, an announced arrival might be the way to go.

#3. Santos Escobar could welcome them to Legado Del Fantasma to replace Los Lotharios

Even in kayfabe, professional wrestling is a performance-driven sport. If a superstar expects excellence from their allies, then they wouldn't settle for less.

While Santos Escobar has wrestled Rey Mysterio—albeit in a tag-team match—at WrestleMania XL and fought for the US title, his stablemates, The Los Lotharios, haven't exactly done a tremendous job of keeping the SmackDown roster on their toes.

Therefore, it could be a matter of time before the Legado leader decides to cut his losses and replace Angel and Humberto with a duo that is bound to have all the momentum on their side very soon. The duo in question is the one comprising Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr.

A short-term alliance with Escobar could be a logical way to introduce The Lucha Brothers to the main roster audience. After all, they'll be skipping NXT, so it would make sense for them to form a pact with someone who's been in multiple notable feuds in the last couple of years.

#2. Nick Aldis could introduce them to the WWE Universe live on SmackDown

WWE's rich history is proof that there is more than one way to have a superstar make an unforgettable debut. But as it's said, sometimes, simplicity is the best option.

Instead of being booked in an action-packed bout on their first night on SmackDown, The Lucha Brothers could make their debut in a more formal setting. The Stamford-based promotion's iconic approach of having their newest acquisitions sit in the front row could work.

Or, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis could be the one to bring Penta and Fenix to the ring. He could present them as big deals right off the bat by stressing how tirelessly he had to work to sign the celebrated veterans.

This method would also allow WWE to gauge how popular The Lucha Bros already are with their fans at the moment. That, in turn, could help the creative team with strategizing how quickly they can strap a rocket to their backs.

#1. They could attack DIY/Street Profits and confront The Bloodline

While Karrion Kross' current main roster stint has colossal room for improvement, there's no denying that his return segment was greatly intriguing.

Attacking The Bloodline's biggest rival at the time, followed by a chilling staredown with Roman Reigns, was a remarkable way to make a comeback. WWE could take a page out of the same playbook and have The Lucha Brothers immediately involved with the top teams on the blue brand.

The Bloodline recently went down to NXT to spoil The Street Profits' guest appearance. Additionally, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa expressed that they've unfinished business with the Solo Sikoa-led faction. So, a star-studded collision course seems to be on the horizon, and that could be the ideal opportunity for The Lucha Bros to show up.

They could debut by laying out the babyface team(s) and then have a tense yet non-physical confrontation with The Bloodline, letting The Tongans know that it's only a matter of time before the WWE Tag Team Championships are around their waists.
