4 Weirdest WrestleMania Matches WWE Almost Booked
In the age of information where every speculation in professional wrestling finds its way in the headlines, the fans remain regularly updated on what's transpiring in the wrestling business. With the Road to WrestleMania bringing more casual audiences to the frame, WWE always tries to put their best foot forward to sell the Grandest Stage of Them All months in advance.
WrestleMania has built a reputation for itself of being a grand visual spectacle which would be an enormous celebration of the entire journey that transpired throughout that calendar year. Since Vince McMahon always likes the prospect of booking his headlining matches months in advance, there are many interesting bouts that were scheduled to happen at the Showcase of the Immortals.
While the company has been influential in setting up some incredible dream showdowns at the event, there are many bouts that they almost booked and fortunately scrapped.
Here are the 4 weirdest WrestleMania matches you won't believe WWE almost booked.
#1 The Undertaker vs Wade Barrett - WrestleMania 27
The Undertaker who is widely regarded as one of the greatest superstars in the history of WWE was rumoured to lock horns with Wade Barrett at WrestleMania 27. While this may come as a shock to many, a more shocking prospect about this bout included the Undertaker wanting to get his streak ended by the former Nexus Leader.
The Phenom was very keen on retiring in 2011 and was locked into square off against Barrett after Vince McMahon failed to bring Brock Lesnar for a blockbuster showdown.
Since the Nexus debuted in such splendid fashion, it was obvious why the Deadman would have agreed to the idea, but Vince eventually dropped the plan, as he didn't consider Barrett to be on that top level.
Considering that Barrett had more downs than ups in the WWE, I'm glad that the company scrapped the plan and went ahead with Triple H instead.
