4 WWE feuds that should not conclude at SummerSlam 2024
WWE is in a brand-new era following the departure of Vincent Kennedy McMahon and the appointment of Triple H as the Chief Content Officer. Over the past two years or so, the promotion has undergone many changes, both on-screen and off.
One major focus of the Triple H-led era of WWE is storytelling. Stories have never been better in the sports entertainment juggernaut, as the creative team has been producing angles involving personal feuds, stable chaos, and relationship drama.
Right now, World Wrestling Entertainment has numerous big rivalries that will likely culminate at SummerSlam. The Biggest Party of the Summer will air live on August 3, 2024.
While fans would love to see feuds conclude in Cleveland, not every rivalry should culminate at SummerSlam. Instead, some of the matches booked for the show should be repeated, and the stories should continue past the event. This article will tackle four WWE feuds that should not end at The Biggest Event of the Summer.
#4 Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk should continue till Bad Blood
CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre is an extremely heated rivalry. When Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series WarGames, McIntyre was furious. Their issues have only grown since then.
It was Drew who injured Punk in the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble Match. From there, the two began exchanging verbal barbs, and things went on to get violent. Now, McIntyre has been belittling Punk and his family. He even left the former WWE Champion a bloody mess, sending him to the hospital.
Things are far too personal between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre for the rivalry to end at SummerSlam. It is expected that a brutal match will conclude their feud, and Bad Blood could be the perfect occasion for it. Lock Punk and Drew up inside Hell in a Cell and let them tear each other apart.
#3 Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley's feud has a lot of juice left
Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley's rivalry is years in the making. The two were once a tag team in WWE and close friends. That changed when The Eradicator joined The Judgment Day. The pair have been enemies ever since.
Things have gotten much worse in 2024. Liv injured Rhea and later became the Women's World Champion. Now, Morgan has set her sights on stealing Dominik Mysterio from his on-screen girlfriend. Their rivalry is more personal than ever.
The feud between the two talented women shouldn't end with just one match. Most fans expect a swerve of some kind in their bout anyway, so this can prolong their rivalry for another few months.
#2 Sami Zayn vs. Bron Breakker should be a three-match story
Sami Zayn and Bron Breakker are no strangers to one another. The two men clashed at WWE Money in the Bank 2024 in Toronto. To the shock of many, perhaps most of all Breakker himself, Zayn won that bout.
Now the two top-tier athletes are set to have a rematch at WWE SummerSlam. Breakker earned the title opportunity by defeating Ilja Dragunov via referee stoppage during the latest edition of Monday Night RAW.
While Bron Breakker will likely win the prized Intercontinental Title from Sami at this event, they should have one more match to cap off their rivalry. Bash in Berlin or Bad Blood could be the perfect venue for a final bout between the two talented performers.
#1 Gunther vs. Damian Priest has surprised WWE fans
Gunther vs. Damian Priest is an interesting feud because it was one that many WWE fans seemingly weren't too hyped about Priest vs. Gunther following Money in the Bank. While most expected the match to be good, the excitement surrounding their story was relatively low.
Things have changed considerably over the past several weeks, however. Damian Priest has revealed more of his real-life backstory on television, and Gunther has become more pompous than ever. The Ring General talking down to the World Heavyweight Champion has caused the two to come to blows.
Their brawl all over Monday Night RAW last week was fun, and fans were really behind it. Blowing the feud off in a little over a week seems unnecessary when they can have at least another month or so of storytelling and quality segments instead.
