4 WWE stars with a vengeance quest against Gunther that could cost him at SummerSlam
WWE SummerSlam is almost here and that means numerous world titles will be on the line at the event. Bayley, Damian Priest, Liv Morgan, and Cody Rhodes are all set to put their prized world championship belts up for grabs.
Damian's match may be the most interesting of the four. The Judgment Day member will be putting his title on the line against the seemingly unstoppable Gunther. This is courtesy of the Austrian star winning the 2024 King of the Ring tournament and thus earning the title opportunity.
The Ring General has been a menace in World Wrestling Entertainment ever since he first appeared on the NXT UK brand. Fast forward several years and he hopes to win his first world title on the main roster, but some may wish to stop him.
Gunther has made a lot of enemies on RAW and SmackDown and many stars are likely seeking vengeance. This article will look at a handful of performers who may cost The Ring General his match at SummerSlam 2024 as a form of revenge.
Below are four WWE Superstars with a vengeance quest against Gunther that could cost him at SummerSlam.
#4. Giovanni Vinci is likely seeking revenge
Giovanni Vinci is one of the most athletic superstars in WWE. That may come as a surprise given how jacked he is, but the Italian star can walk the ropes and do dives that men much smaller and skinnier than he is could only wish to do.
Out of everybody who appears on this list, Vinci had the closest relationship to The Ring General by a wide margin. He was a long-time member of Imperium until Ludwig Kaiser brutally attacked him and kicked the Italian star out of the group. Gunther, unfortunately, approved of the vicious assault.
Due to how he was callously kicked out of Imperium, Vinci will likely want revenge. The fact that he has not attempted to get some yet could mean he is waiting for the perfect opportunity. There is arguably no better time than at SummerSlam.
#3. Chad Gable made it his goal to win gold from Gunther
Chad Gable is one of the best wrestlers in WWE today. He is a mat technician but can brawl, throw suplexes, and even hit dives when deemed necessary. Gable is also highly successful in the tag team ranks, having won gold with various partners in the Stamford-based promotion.
The 38-year-old star has quite the history with Gunther. The two men had three singles matches on WWE television from July to September last year. Gable won one of the bouts by count-out, but he otherwise failed in his goal of winning the Intercontinental Championship from The Ring General.
Given that Gable was never able to dethrone the Austrian star as he hoped, he may harbor a lot of resentment. If he does, Chad could cost Gunther the win at SummerSlam 2024. Doing so comes at a risk, however, as he already has foes in his former friends and The Wyatt Sicks. Can he handle Gunther as well? Only time will tell.
#2. Bronson Reed failed to dethrone The Ring General
Bronson Reed is potentially the most imposing big man on Monday Night RAW. Not only is Reed physically strong, but he has a looming presence. Factor in the intensity and agility the big WWE Superstar offers and most men in the locker room are best off avoiding the former NXT North American Champion.
Like many others, the powerful big man has fallen victim to The Ring General. Bronson and Gunther went one-on-one on the October 16, 2023, edition of Monday Night RAW. Despite having an excellent 12-minute match, "Big" Bronson Reed lost to Gunther.
The 35-year-old star does not often get into personal rivalries in WWE. Instead, he is all about business and hurts whoever crosses his path if it means he can get ahead. Still, if he has any leftover resentment towards the Austrian star, Reed may decide to cost Gunther the win at SummerSlam 2024.
#1. WWE Superstar Jey Uso would want to settle scores with Gunther
Jey Uso is a beloved WWE Superstar. He started his career out as one-half of The Usos. Collectively, he and his brother, Jimmy Uso, dominated the tag team ranks. He left The Bloodline last year and is attempting to make it big as a singles competitor on Monday Night RAW.
Main Event Jey Uso has been a victim of Gunther's in the past. The two clashed over the Intercontinental Championship in February and then again as part of the King of the Ring tournament in June. The Ring General stood tall on both occasions.
Despite winning, Gunther did not exactly win cleanly, as there was interference that aided him. The Yeet Master could decide that what is good for the goose is good for the gander and interfere in the Austrian star's match at SummerSlam this time around.
