4 WWE Superstars destined to defeat John Cena clean one day
The 2005-2014 version of John Cena was a near-unstoppable winning machine who only lost WWE matches on the rarest of occasions.
However, ever since his emphatic SummerSlam 2014 defeat to Brock Lesnar, “The Face That Runs The Place” has lost clean in singles matches to Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Alberto Del Rio, AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Shinsuke Nakamura and Roman Reigns, while he was even pinned by Elias on Raw recently.
The 40-year-old has admitted that he doesn’t know how long he has left as a WWE in-ring performer, but we think there’s still plenty of time to pass a few more torches before he decides to call time on his career.
In this article, we take a look at four current WWE Superstars who are destined to defeat “Mr Hustle Loyalty and Respect” clean one day.
#4 Finn Balor
We originally hoped to include five Superstars on this list but, as we highlighted above, John Cena has lost clean against so many people already that we can only think of four realistic Superstars who could possibly defeat him one-on-one.
One of them is Finn Balor, who lost to Cena in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match on Raw in January 2018.
That was the first time the two men had met inside a WWE ring but it surely won’t be the last, with the first-ever Universal champion bound to be a huge part of the company’s plans for the next 5-6 years and beyond.
A win over Cena would be the biggest milestone win of Balor’s WWE career to date. Let’s just hope that there’s a more important storyline attached to their match if and when they meet again.
