4 WWE Superstars who got lost in the shuffle in 2024
On the heels of a successful WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, fans are looking forward to a new year with new opportunities and changes. With the company entering into a partnership with Netflix, the landscape as we know it will change, which has the WWE Universe excited about the near future.
Triple H and his crew delivered a new era for wrestling fans in 2024. With packed arenas and millions of viewers every week, the product is on fire right now, thanks to a roster that is stacked with some of the best talent in the world. With that said, there are a few superstars who seem to have gotten lost in the creative mix somewhere along the way.
This is our list of four WWE Superstars who got lost in the shuffle in 2024.
#4 - Former NXT Tag Team Champion Giovanni Vinci
It's been a couple of years since Imperium broke out on the main roster and became one of the most dominant groups in wrestling. With Gunther leading the charge, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci did the dirty work for Imperium. Vinci was kicked from the stable after being attacked by Ludwig following their match against The New Day earlier in the year.
Since being exiled from Imperium, Giovanni Vinci has been essentially left out to dry. Meanwhile, Gunther is the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and Ludwig Kaiser has been challenging Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship. Hopefully, Giovanni will get some creative love in the New Year.
#3 - Former RAW Tag Team Champion Otis
In mid-2016, a tag team known as Heavy Machinery broke onto the NXT scene. Otis and Tucker were a big, powerful tag team that the fans got behind quickly. Despite not winning any sort of titles, Heavy Machinery was still a successful duo and one of the biggest fan favorites. After an unflattering main roster run, Tucker turned on Otis, ending their four-year run.
Since Heavy Machinery disbanded, Otis has been all over the place, creatively. Shortly before the pandemic shook everything up, he aligned with Mandy Rose, starting a romantic storyline. Since then, Otis has been with the Alpha Academy, which has fallen flat as of late. The only time we see the big guy, he's partnered with Akira Tozawa in some meaningless matches. Fans love Otis, and seeing him involved in something with substance would be nice.
#2 - Former WWE Champion The Miz
Mike Mizanin gained notoriety in 2001 as a cast member of The Real World. During the show, Mike introduced viewers to his alter ego, "The Miz." He was a huge wrestling fan and made it clear throughout the show. A few years later, The Miz entered WWE's Tough Enough competition. Despite not winning, he was awarded a WWE contract, fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a pro wrestler.
Since signing with the company, The Miz has worked his way from the bottom to the very top, becoming a two-time WWE Champion. He has worn many hats throughout his career, from talk show host to WrestleMania main-eventer. The Miz has not had much of a creative direction lately. His most recent run with The Final Testament leaves much to be desired. Someone who has been the top guy deserves a better roster placement than he currently has.
#1 - The Nigerian Giant Omos
Before signing with WWE in 2019, The Nigerian Giant Omos played Division 1 college basketball for the University of South Florida. Omos started to gain attention when he aligned with AJ Styles in 2020. The duo went on to win the RAW Tag titles at WrestleMania 37.
One of Omos' biggest moments came at WrestleMania 39 when he faced Brock Lesnar. Since then, his appearances have been few and far between. His last in-ring appearance was back at SmackDown before WrestleMania 40. Earlier this year, he interviewed with SECScoops in which he addressed his status.
"I'm an attraction. They call me in when they need to make the big bucks..."
It's currently unclear whether WWE has any plans for Omos, but the big man could become a major attraction if Triple H & Co. gave him the spotlight once again.
