4 WWE Superstars who could replace Big E in The New Day
For the past decade, WWE fans have enjoyed "the power of positivity," thanks to The New Day. In late 2014, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E united and started the faction. The trio quickly became a fan favorite as they compiled almost a dozen tag title reigns.
During a recent episode of RAW, WWE held a 10-year celebration for The New Day. Halfway through the segment, Big E came out, hoping to help Kingston and Woods get past their recent differences. Unfortunately, E was not welcomed with open arms by his brothers. The duo made it clear they wanted nothing to do with the 38-year-old, essentially exiling their former partner from the group.
This is our list of four WWE superstars who could replace Big E in The New Day:
#4 - Former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes
During this year's WWE Draft, SmackDown welcomed the era of HIM when they selected Carmelo Hayes as the third overall pick. Melo hit the ground running, challenging Cody Rhodes on his very first night on the blue brand. He is one of the top stars and has all the tools needed to be a title contender on the main roster.
Since arriving on SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes has become a thorn in Nick Aldis's side. In fact, Aldis told Melo last week on the blue brand that he'd like to send him to RAW to be "Adam Pearce's problem."
The fact is, that Carmelo Hayes is one of the upcoming megastars on the blue brand and needs a better creative direction. Joining The New Day could be that change he needs.
#3 - Current WWE Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker
One of the main reasons for The New Day's success was each member's unique contribution. Big E was the brute presence that made opponents fear the trio. Despite the comedic aura surrounding the group, the 38-year-old gave them that dominant presence that Woods and Kingston have been missing in recent months.
Bron Breakker signed with WWE in 2021 and after a few months of honing his skills, he made his debut in September of the same year. Bron went on to become a two-time NXT Champion before being brought up to the main roster earlier this year.
Since making the jump, Breakker has become one of the top stars on the red brand. His size and intimidating presence would be ideal to replace someone like Big E.
#2 - Current NXT Champion Trick Williams
In the past few years, many WWE Superstars have established themselves with NXT before making it to the main roster. Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Bray Wyatt are just a few names who have cut their teeth in Orlando before making it to the major spotlight. Today, the black and silver brand is being led by the "whoop that" movement courtesy Trick Williams.
Trick Williams started his WWE journey with Carmelo Hayes when they were known as the Trick-Melo Gang. Since then, Trick has elevated to the top and is currently the NXT Champion.
The 30-year-old champion has the experience and charisma needed to succeed with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods as a member of The New Day.
#1 - Former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi
The Next in Line program was designed to recruit college athletes who may have the potential to become pro wrestlers one day. In 2021 Oba Femi was signed through this program. After a few years of developing his skills, the Nigerian broke out this year and has become one of NXT's top stars.
As a member of The New Day, Big E was known as the muscle behind the faction. Standing at 6'4" and tipping the scales at over 300 pounds, Oba Femi is an ideal replacement for the veteran. Femi started 2024 with a bang, winning the NXT North American championship, which he carried most of the year before losing it to Tony D'Angelo in October.
