40-year-old superstar to injure LA Knight on SmackDown before SummerSlam? Exploring potential favor for Logan Paul
LA Knight has perhaps the biggest match of his career ahead of him at SummerSlam. Taking on Logan Paul, The Megastar has a chance to claim his first piece of silverware on the main roster in the form of the United States Championship. Unsurprisingly, The Maverick will likely do everything he can to stop that. This includes getting a favor from a 40-year-old superstar on this week's SmackDown.
The 40-year-old superstar in question is none other than Santos Escobar. While a partnership between Logan Paul and the leader of Legado Del Fantasma seems left field, they actually do share common ground. Specifically, they both have a vendetta against LA Knight. After all, the two have teamed up before and attacked The Megastar in the past. Escobar suffered a defeat at the hands of Knight last week.
Eager to stick it to LA Knight, Santos Escobar might just go out of his way to plan an attack this Friday. Never one to miss an opportunity, Escobar could blindside The Megastar and try to injure him before his big SummerSlam match. Assuming the attack is successful, Logan Paul will have an easier challenge at SummerSlam, and in return, the YouTuber can offer the 40-year-old a future title match.
Now, at this point, this is naturally just speculation and nothing more. There is no telling what Santos Escobar's motivations will be heading into this week's SmackDown. But no one would fault Knight if he were to be a bit wary of The Emperor of Lucha Libre.
LA Knight will have the uphill task of dethroning Logan Paul in the latter's hometown
The Biggest Party of The Summer is set to take place at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, which is Logan Paul's hometown. Although he is the babyface, LA Knight could receive a hostile reaction from the partisan crowd during the US Title match this weekend.
If that isn't enough, Paul apparently has big plans for his return to Cleveland. In addition to WWE announcing a homecoming for the 29-year-old, The Maverick revealed last Friday that a certain ''Mr. Cleveland'' had planned a surprise for the YouTube sensation at the PLE. Who will that be? Could it be LeBron James? Or Jake Paul? At this point, there is no telling.
The match between Paul and Knight is set to be a thrilling affair. This will be Logan's first title defense since WrestleMania XL, where he retained the US Championship against Kevin Owens and Randy Orton in a Triple Threat Match. It will be interesting to see if he retains the title against The Megastar this weekend.
