46-year-old veteran to be sidelined from WWE RAW for several months due to injury? Exploring the chances

WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 is in the rear-view mirror but the aftereffects of the brutal premium live event are still visible. Several top stars on Monday Night RAW were notably absent from the show this week due to injuries. Among them is a 46-year-old veteran who could be sidelined for a considerable amount of time. The name in question is Sheamus.

The Celtic Warrior competed against Bron Breakker and Ludwig Kaiser in a blockbuster Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship at the spectacle. However, he failed to capture the coveted title despite delivering a spectacular performance. This week on RAW, WWE made a notable mention of the veteran star, providing an update.

During a backstage segment, Cathy Kelly revealed that Sheamus cracked a rib during his match. There is a high chance that he could go on a hiatus for the remainder of 2024. Even though a broken rib treatment may not necessarily require surgery, it does take several weeks or months for superstars to recover and complete their rehabilitation process.

WWE provides medical updates on injuries and concussions mostly when superstars are set to go on a prolonged hiatus. Besides, Sheamus was also seen bruised and battered after his grueling match at Survivor Series: WarGames. With the 46-year-old having a history of injuries, the Stamford-based promotion may not risk his health and instead provide him a much-needed break.

Hence, The Celtic Warrior might be out of action for an extended period. He could make his return next year on The Road to WrestleMania 41.

WWE may be saving a big moment for Sheamus

Sheamus is one of the most decorated WWE Superstars, having many accomplishments to his name. However, he has been in pursuit of the Intercontinental Championship for the last several years. It is the only title that has prevented him from becoming a Grand Slam Champion.

The Celtic Warrior has received many chances to capture the coveted title in the last two years. Despite getting so close, opportunities slipped through his fingers as he could not win the Intercontinental Championship. It looks like the creative is saving this monumental moment for a much bigger stage.

The Stamford-based promotion could finally pull the trigger on this much-awaited moment at The Showcase of the Immortals next year in Las Vegas. WrestleMania 41 could be the place where Sheamus finally becomes a WWE Grand Slam Champion by winning the Intercontinental Title.

Given his recent setbacks, this seems to be the possible direction for the 44-year-old going forward. It will be interesting to see when The Celtic Warrior finally gets to add the coveted title to his decorated resume.
