5 best candidates to end Asuka's streakĀ
No-one is ready for Asuka. This is what the winner of the first ever Women's Royal Rumble tells us on a weekly basis and as yet, she has not been proven wrong. Asuka's unbeaten streak is the longest in WWE history and with her recent Rumble victory, it looks as though no-one is going to be stopping her anytime soon.
The end of a streak can prove tricky from a booking perspective and can go down in any number of ways. A screwy finish, akin to Kevin Nash defeating Goldberg, would be an insult to both Asuka and the fans, while a clean finish would instantly elevate the victor and earmark them as one the biggest stars in the women's division.
So who should get the honor of ending Asuka's streak? A current superstar or someone not yet on the main roster? How and when should it go down? Let's take a look at the five best candidates to end Asuka's steak.
#1 Charlotte Flair
Rumours have been doing the rounds that instead of challenging Alexa Bliss for the Raw Title, Asuka will switch brands and take on Charlotte for the Smackdown Women's Title at Wrestlemania instead.
This move would be universally welcome by WWE fans, with Charlotte Vs Asuka being perhaps the biggest female match we could see on the grandest stage of them all. WWE love the chance to make history at Wrestlemania and Charlotte presents the most viable threat to Asuka's streak yet. The one thing that Charlotte offers, perhaps more than any other women on the roster, is legitimacy. Charlotte is just as cunning as Asuka and it stands to reason that she could, on the right day, topple Asuka and end her winning streak.
Having Charlotte topple the winning streak at Wrestlemania would certainly be a memorable moment but it's one the fans may argue has come too soon. Asuka is destined to win the gold at Wrestlemania it would seem, and fans are fully invested in her journey right now.
