5 booking options for John Cena after No Mercy

WWE have a number of options when it comes to John Cena's inevitable WWE return

WWE has a number of options when it comes to John Cena's inevitable return to it. Cena was defeated by Roman Reigns at No Mercy last month and following the match, he seemingly said goodbye to the WWE Universe as he set off on another lengthy hiatus from wrestling to film his scenes in the new Transformers movie.

Despite this, it seems that Cena will indeed be returning to WWE in the distant future since he stated "If they want me, I will return" on the Raw Talk that followed No Mercy.

John Cena only returns to WWE now to "put over" younger stars since he is aware that now he has reached the point in his career where he needs to help ensure that the company is left in good hands when he retires just like many WWE legends did the same for Cena when he was coming through the ranks.

But what options do WWE have for John Cena when he finally makes his return to WWE?

5. Commissioner of SmackDown Live

SmackDown Live is definitely in need of a shake-up following Hell in a Cell this weekend, and given how personal the match between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon has become, it's obvious that one man will be forced to leave the brand following their showdown.

If McMahon was the one who was forced to leave, then it would mean that WWE will have a vacant spot for the Commissioner, a spot that Cena could easily fill if he wanted to be able to come and go from WWE as he pleases.

SmackDown definitely needs new blood. Shane McMahon's era has lasted now for more than a year and bringing in a 16-time Champion like John Cena to run the show for a few months could be an interesting turn of events heading towards the Survivor Series.
