5 Current WWE stars who can take on Conor McGregor
With the rise in popularity of the UFC, there’s lately been a rivalry between fans of ‘real fighting’ and ‘fake fighting’. While each is a discipline far removed from the other, there’s a great deal of mutual respect from both camps. We all remember the WWE stints of Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn, and cheered for Brock Lesnar in the octagon when he competed against Mark Hunt.
‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey even got her nickname from Rowdy Roddy Piper. However, this ‘respect’ would be put to the test when UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor would call the WWE roster a bunch of ‘p*****s’. He’d go on to say- ‘I didn't mean no disrespect to the @wwe fans. What I meant to say was that I'd slap the head off your entire roster. And twice on Sundays.’
This resulted in a war of words on Twitter, where several past and present WWE stars would attack McGregor for his comments including Roman Reigns, Ric Flair, Chris Jericho, Sasha Banks and even The Iron Sheik. We suspect that this may very well be an angle for McGregor to make an appearance at a future WWE show, and maybe even step into the ring in the future.
Whatever the case may be, we look at 5 current WWE superstars with genuine ‘combat sports’ backgrounds, who can, if not legitimately defeat McGregor, then take the fight to him.
