5 Current WWE Superstars who have been arrested in real-life
WWE Superstars have a role to play both in and outside the ring as role models due to the fame and attention that comes with the nature of their profession. However, there are times when fans have seen their favorite stars in infamous moments.
Wrestlers being arrested while inside the ring or backstage has been an angle that the Sports Entertainment juggernaut has used for some time now, and in most cases, it helps intensify the feuds between stars. John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Dexter Lumis, and more were previously arrested on-screen. However, there have also been instances when current stars have been handcuffed in real life.
Here's a look at five current WWE Superstars who were arrested in real life:
#5. and #4. The Usos' arrest was referenced on WWE television a couple of times
Jimmy and Jey Uso were WWE's top tag teams for the past few years before disbanding in 2023, but their names remain prominent separately. However, they weren't always on top of their game.
Jimmy Uso has had several arrests relating to DUI, like in 2011 and 2013 in Florida. He was also arrested in 2019 in Michigan following a drunken dispute with a police officer after being pulled over with a DUI, and again in 2021 with another DUI charge. On the other hand, Jey Uso was arrested in 2018 in Texas for driving while intoxicated.
Their arrest has been referenced in a few promos since then. In 2019, John Cena stated that the twins looked like their mugshots. In the lead-up to the 2024 Money in the Bank, Drew McIntyre questioned how Jey Uso got through the Canada border after the latter was reportedly banned from entering the country in the past due to his arrest.
#3. Liv Morgan was arrested before returning to WWE in 2024
After several months of inactivity due to an injury, Liv Morgan returned to WWE television as the 30th entrant of the 2024 Women's Royal Rumble. However, she also made headlines a month before.
In December 2023, the current Women's World Champion was arrested for marijuana possession in Florida after a sheriff's deputy pulled her over for crossing road lines. The Miracle Kid paid a fine, and the case was closed in February 2024.
#2. Charlotte Flair was arrested before joining WWE
Charlotte Flair married fellow WWE Superstar Andrade in 2022. However, her past relationships weren't always smooth sailing.
In 2008, The Queen got involved in a scrimmage with her father Ric Flair and former partner Riki Johnson. Neighbors later called the police, which eventually led to the former SmackDown Women's Champion getting arrested on charges of assaulting a police officer. Her initial sentence was 45 days in jail but was reduced to supervised probation and a $200 fine.
#1. R-Truth was arrested in real life and on television
While many consider R-Truth a positive presence in the Stamford-based promotion, there have been times when he wasn't exactly a kind soul. Many may remember him getting arrested with The Miz on live TV in 2011, but Truth has been behind bars in real life, too.
After graduating high school, Truth turned down several scholarships and opted to pursue a music career. To help fund his career, the 54-time 24/7 Champion started dealing drugs and was arrested on four different occasions. After that, he dropped that lifestyle and started focusing on his music career. Later, he contacted Jackie Crockett of the National Wrestling Alliance and expressed his desire to become a wrestler.
