5 mistakes WWE must not repeat from the last edition of Clash at the Castle - Cringeworthy duet, angry fans & more
WWE Clash at the Castle 2024 is set to take place this Saturday in Glasgow, Scotland. The Judgment Day's Damian Priest will be defending the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event.
There will be several other title matches that will take place at the premium live event this weekend. The promotion held a Clash at the Castle event in Cardiff in 2022, and it was a huge success. However, there were mistakes made during the show that the promotion could look to avoid this time around.
Listed below are five mistakes that WWE must not repeat from the last edition of Clash at the Castle.
#5. The best match must not happen in the middle of WWE Clash at the Castle
Gunther defeated Sheamus in an instant classic at Clash at the Castle 2022 to retain the Intercontinental Championship. The two stars battled once again in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament this year, and Gunther picked up the victory.
The leader of Imperium went on to win this year's King of the Ring tournament as well and has earned a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
Sheamus got a standing ovation from the crowd after the match at Clash at the Castle 2022 despite coming up short. The promotion should look to make sure the main event is the best match on the card this Saturday.
#4. A title must change hands this Saturday in Scotland
There were three title matches at Clash at the Castle 2022, and there was not a single title change. Liv Morgan successfully defended her SmackDown Women's Championship against Shayna Baszler, Gunther defeated Sheamus, and Roman Reigns got the better of Drew McIntyre in the main event to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.
This year, Clash at the Castle has five matches on the card, and every single one of them has a title on the line. The promotion should try to avoid being predictable and book a title change for the premium live event this weekend.
#3. There must not be interference in the main event
Solo Sikoa made his main roster debut at Clash at the Castle 2022 during the match between Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns. The Enforcer of The Bloodline hit McIntyre with the Samoan Spike, and The Tribal Chief capitalized to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Drew McIntyre defeated Finn Balor in the main event of WWE RAW, and The Judgment Day is barred from ringside at Clash at the Castle 2024 as a result of the victory. McIntyre has also recently warned CM Punk not to get involved in his match as the crowd could be rowdy.
The promotion may not want to end this year's show the same way it did in 2022 and could decide to have nobody interfere in the World Heavyweight Championship match this weekend.
#2. WWE should send the crowd home happy this year
Roman Reigns' historic title reign did not come to an end until WrestleMania XL earlier this year. However, many fans were ready to see Drew McIntyre capture the title at Clash at the Castle 2022, but it was not meant to be. The premium live event went off the air with the crowd in Cardiff annoyed at the result of the main event.
The fans in Scotland would erupt if Drew McIntyre were to capture the World Heavyweight Championship on Saturday. WWE could still have CM Punk show up after the match to continue their rivalry, but it would be repetitive if he cost McIntyre the title and could lead to some disgruntled wrestling fans.
#1. WWE should not let Drew McIntyre sing again
Boxing sensation Tyson Fury was in attendance for WWE Clash at the Castle 2022. Fury got in the ring following McIntyre's loss to Reigns, and the two decided to sing the song American Pie together after the veteran failed to dethrone The Head of the Table.
McIntyre recently claimed that singing with Fury was one of his biggest regrets. He noted his heart was in the right place, and he was trying to make the crowd happier following his loss. However, he added he would rather take 10 punches from Tyson Fury than sing ever again in front of a crowd.
If the 39-year-old comes up short again at the premium live event this weekend, WWE must ensure that nobody in the crowd wants to perform a duet with McIntyre to avoid further embarrassment.
