It has been almost a decade since the inception of NXT. The creation of this developmental brand came as a boon for the WWE, as it regularly produces fresh young talent for the WWE to elevate into main event stars on Raw and SmackDown.

Some of the biggest stars of this generation began their journey down in NXT. The Shield, quite possibly the greatest set of superstars to grace our TV screens in the last several years, were first seen together on NXT.

Let's take a look at 5 WWE Superstars who came from NXT and were turned into legit main event players by WWE.

#5 Charlotte Flair

Charlotte carries the name of perhaps the greatest wrestler in all of wrestling, which made it even harder for her to make a name for herself in WWE. Charlotte not only succeeded in carving her own niche, but she also managed to become the cornerstone of the women's revolution.

Charlotte was part of the women's triple threat match at WrestleMania 32 and was crowned the new women's champion at the grandest stage of them all. She went on to have classic encounters with her arch-rival, Sasha Banks. The duo went on to create history when they competed in the first ever Women's Hell in a Cell match.

Charlotte is now a part of the first very women's title match that could possibly headline WrestleMania. By the time she retires, she might end up being called the greatest female wrestler of all time.

#4 Kevin Owens

Unlike his NXT partner, Sami Zayn, Owens hasn't been wasted on the main roster.

He even went on to win the Universal title with the aid of Triple H on an episode of Raw. He was part of a team with Chris Jericho, that led to "Festival of Friendship", possibly the greatest WWE segments in recent years.

Owens was out for a while due to an injury, but has recently returned and immediately put back in the title picture. There's a chance that he will compete in a triple threat match for the WWE title at WrestleMania 35, against Bryan and Kofi Kingston.
