There have been 41 Championships in WWE history, dating back to its inaugural title; the WWWF United States Tag Team Championship, first held by Mark Lewin and Don Curtis and retired in July of 1967.

It's most recent title was born just two short months ago on May 20, 2019. That title was unveiled by Mick Foley and christened the 24/7 Championship.

Most champions are athletes in their primes, however, on occasion Superstars in the twilight of their careers have shown the capability to win gold in WWE as well. This slideshow looks at the five oldest men ever to earn titles in WWE.

#5 Pat Patterson - Hardcore Champion (59 years, 152 days)

Pat Patterson is a name synonymous with WWE. However, despite being a WWE Hall of Famer and the inaugural Intercontinental Champion, he has impacted WWE's title history elsewhere too. Way back in June 2000, Gerald Brisco was celebrating his second Hardcore Championship victory which had occurred when he pinned Crash Holly on the June 19th, 2000, episode of Raw.

His good buddy, Patterson celebrated with him backstage, but Patterson betrayed his friend by pouring the celebratory champagne into the champion's eyes. Patterson subsequently smashed the bottle over Brisco's head to earn the win and the Hardcore title.

At the grand old age of 59, Patterson, 21 years after his Intercontinental Championship victory was a WWE Champion once again. He would only hold the belt for six days, however, as his defense against Brisco at King of the Ring 2000 in a Hardcore Evening Gown battle saw Holly sneak in and regain the belt under the 24/7 rule.
