The smoke has cleared, the dust has settled and The Undertaker has defeated Goldberg.

In a brutal and bloody match, the Deadman proved why he is considered by many as the greatest WWE Superstar in wrestling history, dispatching of the former WCW and Universal Champion.

The first ever singles match between the two, the match could have gone either way in the weeks of build-up. No doubt there were many fans who wanted Goldberg to defeat the Phenom, but sadly for them, tonight just wasn't their night. The WWE had to make a decision, and it's one that may anger a lot of the fans.

Here are five reasons why the Demon of Death Valley defeated Goldberg at their first ever encounter at WWE Super ShowDown 2019.

#5 Because he didn’t appear at WrestleMania

In the latest WWE NEWS, WrestleMania 35 was a huge event, and has gone down in history as one of the most popular WrestleManias of the past decade.

At the show of shows, several fan favourites emerged on top, including Seth Rollins winning the Universal title in the show’s opener, Kofi Kingston becoming the first African-born WWE Champion, and Becky Lynch establishing herself as the Man in the main event.

One notable absence though, was The Undertaker.

Not appearing at the show, Mania 35 was the first WrestleMania missed by the Deadman in 19 years, as it seems time and a lifetime of risking his body has taken its toll on the legendary Superstar.

Perhaps the WWE wanted to prove that despite missing this year’s show, the Deadman was still a force to be reckoned with, able to handily dispatch of the mighty Goldberg.
