5 reasons why it's time for WWE to break up The Judgment Day for good
The Judgment Day has experienced upheaval several times in the group's history. In the beginning, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, and Finn Balor kicked out Edge, the founder of the faction.
They added Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh into the fold, but soon, even Ripley and Priest were excommunicated. While Carlito, Liv Morgan, and Raquel Rodriguez have joined within the last year, two sides appear to have emerged within the group.
Balor, McDonagh, and Carlito stand on one side while Dominik hangs with Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. Balor is the main antagonist and WWE should break the group up for good for the next five reasons:
#5. Disbanding the group would open a spot for new top dogs on RAW
Over the last four years, The Bloodline has ruled SmackDown. The Judgment Day has done the same on RAW. Every group breaks up at some point, including The Shield, Evolution, and maybe even The Judgment Day itself.
Both WWE main roster brands have numerous factions. RAW alone has the Final Testament, The Wyatt Sicks, the LWO, and American Made. Whereas SmackDown has Legado Del Fantasma and several other top tag teams.
Balor and McDonagh's run with tag team gold has been well below average. Any one of those RAW factions could move up the ranks and get more credibility with a featured spot previously held strongly by The Judgment Day.
#4. Finn Balor enjoys lording over The Judgment Day
The stars who lead mutinies have eventually acted as the leaders of The Judgment Day. Ripley and Priest did so after kicking Edge out of the faction. Finn Balor and Liv Morgan took over after usurping Mami and The Archer of Infamy.
While The Prince is the longest-tenured group member, his 'leadership' style has been much more confrontational and antagonistic. He has been bullying Dominik lately seemingly due to jealousy of the latter beating Priest.
He's even started saying "When we listen to Finn, we win." Dirty Dom has always been treated like the little brother and his actions have somewhat justified that. However, there will soon be a time when he tires of Balor's treatment.
Overbearing leaders often get their comeuppance, so The Prince's actions could come back to bite him.
#3. A home on Netflix might provide different opportunities
WWE is loading up for the debut of RAW on Netflix next month. Huge names like The Rock, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, Trish Stratus, and many other legends will likely appear.
If Netflix officials have requests or "ideas" that they'd like to incorporate into the new presentation, it may cause a shift in dynamics. Certain stars may get bigger pushes.
Different groups may appeal more to a varied audience. New matches could be introduced or older concepts could be brought back. Big changes usually hit all across the roster.
Having The Judgment Day incorporated into those changes by breaking up would signify a big shift in a new broadcast home.
#2. Dominik Mysterio constantly stepping up may force a face turn
A time-tested booking strategy is making a heel so hated but great at their job that it eventually leads to a face turn. This happened with Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins. It's also ongoing currently with stars like Gunther and Bron Breakker.
Even Kevin Owens' recent switch to the dark side was hard to root against, due to the logic in his arguments. Due to Balor's antagonism, Dominik has been thrust into several matches. He stood up to Gunther on RAW and actually had the crowd behind him during the match.
The audience booed him relentlessly for much of this year whenever he tried to speak into the microphone. The tension on both sides could force Dominik to turn face.
A turn would then lead to a feud with Balor and other heels on the roster. The New Day just turned heel so someone else on the roster must turn face to offset that loss.
#1. Finally ending the ongoing Morgan & Ripley, Balor & Priest feuds
One big reason The Judgment Day needs to end is the ongoing feuds among its members. Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley have been battling since after WrestleMania 40.
Morgan won the title from Becky Lynch after Mami was forced to vacate due to injury. It's now December and they're still going at it. The same goes for Balor and Priest.
While some feuds need multiple PLEs to sell the severity of the stakes, they usually end after three or four months. Balor cost Priest at Survivor Series so The Archer of Infamy will likely return the favor at Saturday Night's Main Event when The Prince goes up against Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The move to Netflix should end some ongoing feuds like those among The Judgment Day members. Moving on to other endeavors will help signal a huge change on RAW.
