5 Reasons why Brock Lesnar must win the Universal Title in 2017

Brock Lesnar should be billed as the most dominant wrestler on WWE’s roster

WWE and its fans are gearing up for the mega confrontation between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg at Survivor Series. While I have spoken about my thoughts on this confrontation – both for and against a match like this – the excitement and build is exactly what the company had hoped for.

My fear is that the match will not live up to the hype and WWE will have wasted yet another opportunity to make Lesnar a contender for the Universal Heavyweight Title. The 2016 calendar year may be coming to an end, but January is on the horizon and there is plenty of opportunity for WWE to readdress the need to make Lesnar a contender once again.

While he is still a “part-time” player in this business, Lesnar is still the most polarising figure in the company. WWE lacks a true dominant player. John Cena’s time is eroding like sand through an hourglass. Undertaker will appear on Smackdown Live on Nov. 15 as part of the 900th episode – but his skills are not what they used to be.

Randy Orton may have helped his career by joining the Wyatt Family, but he is nowhere near the main event picture and Bray Wyatt is still stuck in a program without a title run in his immediate future.

If WWE and Raw want to move the pendulum to the right, it must make Lesnar a title contender once more and put the Universal Title on his waist in 2017. Here are five reasons why this must happen.

#1 Everything falls back on Lesnar as the company’s biggest draw

Even im his part-time status, Lesnar is the company’s biggest draw

Love him, hate him or just don’t have an opinion, Lesnar does something most WWE superstars don’t do in this business – he continues to draw fans to watch him in the ring. It’s the same formula that was successful with Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair and it is the formula WWE should be using to promote Kevin Owens.

No matter what Lesnar does, it is the most important thing in the promotion. Owens hasn’t been booked properly. Lesnar with a title in hand brings all the kids to the playground. It is that simple.
