5 reasons why Finn Balor could turn heel at Royal Rumble 2019
Last week on Monday Night Raw, Vince McMahon removed Braun Strowman from the Universal Championship picture.
Then a number 1 contender match was booked for the title between John Cena, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, and Finn Balor. Balor won that match by pinning John Cena, and now will be facing The Beast at the Royal Rumble.
It will be a big moment for Balor, as he could become the Universal Champion again, but it’s highly unlikely to happen.
Maybe the company is planning to do a change in his character by turning him heel.
Here are 5 reasons why this could happen.
#5 Face Balor hasn’t done anything big in the WWE
When Balor arrived on the main roster, he was getting full support from the creative team, and even won the Universal Championship in a very short time by defeating Seth Rollins. However, he got injured in the match, and then relinquished his title.
Later, he returned to Raw after WrestleMania 33, and since then, the company hasn’t used him the way they should. Balor has lost many feuds and matches. This has hurt him a lot.
There’s no doubt that face Balor hasn’t done anything significant in the WWE except winning the Universal Championship (for just one day). This could be the reason behind his heel turn at the Royal Rumble. As a heel Balor could achieve a lot in the company.
Remember his run as a heel in New Japan Pro Wrestling?
#4 This will help him keep two different personalities at the same time
We all know that Finn Balor has two characters. One is his normal side he shows every week, and the second is the Demon King.
We all know that the Demon is very dangerous in the ring, and could dethrone anyone. So why not make him a heel?
It would be great for Balor (as it will help him gain some advantage in the match), and it would also allow him keep two personalities at the same time.
He could just work as usual in his normal persona, but could also come and fight as the Demon King whenever he needs to.
I know this may sound unlikely, but the WWE has done something similar in the past with Mick Foley. He had three faces in his career - Cactus Jack, Mankind, and Dude Love. He used these characters in different ways, and even the fans liked it. The same could happen with Finn Balor as well.
