Dean Ambrose left WWE after his contract ended on April 2019. While he himself didn’t reveal the reason for his departure, there were stories of him being frustrated with the direction in which his character was moving forward.
Indeed, that is what Rollins revealed as Ambrose wasn’t happy with the heel turn last October.
“The way that affected Ambrose, that wasn’t really his best look. No one wanted to see us fight each other, we had been through that, it didn’t feel good. I was upset, he was clearly upset and people didn’t want to see it, they wanted to see us be brothers and care about each other," said Rollins to Yahoo Sports.
And now, right after the expiration of his contract with WWE, Ambrose has gone back to his old gimmick – Jon Moxley – and posted a video on Twitter to put the fans in a frenzy.

Before he joined WWE and became Dean Ambrose, he had already made a name for himself in the independent circuit as Jon Moxley. His character was that of a lunatic (more on that next) and it got really over with the fans.
He held the Full Impact Pro World Heavyweight Championship for 441 days and never lost the title as he relinquished it in 2011 when he joined WWE. Moxley was renowned for his time at Combat Zone Wrestling, where he performed from 2009 to 2011.
He was particularly famous for his often bloody hardcore matches. Moxley’s promo on Twitter, too, saw his hands being gored by barbed wire – which is why fans love the character even more than ‘Dean Ambrose’ – giving a hint that he is…
