5 Reasons why the team of Cesaro and Sheamus works
Perhaps one of the good things coming out of Raw is the team of Cesaro and Sheamus.
Ever so the odd couple, these two men are providing some comedic relief through being paired together after their best of seven series of matches came to a draw. Now having to team together, Cesaro and Sheamus find ways to irritate the other and often argue among themselves. However, they still find ways to win despite the drama between them.
For me, I can’t help but think of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels when it comes to Cesaro and Sheamus. Back in 1997, the two would team up but they certainly didn’t get along. They ended up fighting most of the time, but still managed to capture the WWF Tag Team Championships.
This was just before the Attitude Era would change the face of the business of pro wrestling. Cesaro and Sheamus are a throwback to that of sorts, with updated twists in their story, if you will.
Beneath the surface, this was a smart move by the company. I explain five reasons why. Starting now.
#1 The way they were brought together
As fans know, the Best of Seven series brought Cesaro and Sheamus together.
The two started to feud, with Sheamus interfering in Cesaro’s matches. Raw General Manager Mick Foley decided the two had to go against each other in a Best of Seven series. The last match they had at Clash of Champions went to a no contest, which brought on drama and great effort from both men.

Enter Foley once more.
He set Cesaro and Sheamus up as a team after the No Contest ruling at Clash of Champions. Because he was impressed with their effort, Foley thought they could work as a team. While the two still bicker and carry on, they find a way to make the team work, even pinning Tag Team Champions The New Day on an episode of Raw.
