5 records created at Royal Rumble 2019.
The 2019 edition of Royal Rumble is in the history now. WWE Universe greeted the event overwhelmingly since the winners of most matches were clear fan favourites. Even though the WWE fans are not satisfied by certain decisions, they are content by the Pay Per View as a whole. Becky Lynch winning the women's Royal Rumble match, Seth Rollins winning the men's Rumble match and Asuka retaining her SmackDown Live women's title were huge positives from the PPV. Even the tease of a potential battle between UFC's Four Horsewomen and WWE's Four Horsewomen was received well.
However, during this event, some records were created by certain superstars in WWE. In this article, we will be taking a look at a few of those records made by these superstars.
#5 Brock Lesnar - First WWE superstar to defeat Finn Balor in a singles main roster PPV match
Finn Balor had an impeccable record when it came to singles match in main roster PPVs. He won his first PPV match against Seth Rollins at Summerslam 2016. In 2017, he scored wins over Bray Wyatt (at Summerslam and No Mercy), and AJ Styles (at Tables, Ladders, and Chairs). In 2018, the former Bullet Club leader scored wins over Baron Corbin (at Extreme Rules and Summerslam) and Drew McIntyre (at Tables, Ladders, and Chairs PPV). Balor has already lost a plethora of multi-man matches during his main roster run, at PPVs.
Thus, when Brock Lesnar defeated Finn Balor at Royal Rumble 2019, Lesnar broke another streak. Even though it was not as important as The Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak, it was still a winning streak. Even though Balor looked in control for most of the match, Lesnar won the match with minimal offence - a few suplexes and a Kimura Lock.
