On November 2, 2018, WWE hosted its pay-per-view (PPV) named Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. One of the high points of this show was the first-ever WWE World Cup tournament. This tournament was held to determine the best wrestler of the world.

The qualifiers for the World Cup Final were The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. However, in between the match, The Miz tweaked his leg and was unable to continue. Sensing this as a loss of SmackDown Live brand, the then Commissioner of the show, Shane McMahon, interjected himself in the match and pinned Dolph Ziggler to take home the trophy. Folks, It all started there.

In the aftermath, The Miz was seen convincing Shane McMahon to form a tag team. The Miz described Shane’s World Cup win a team effort and mentioned he is also equivalent half of “Best in the World.”

After some initial hiccups and a loss through the hands of some local competitors, Shane O'Mac decided to team up with The Miz.

The self-proclaimed “Best Team in the World” defeated “The Bar” at the Royal Rumble and became our new WWE Smackdown Tag Team champions.

Somewhere we all knew that the whole idea of putting Miz and Shane together is to eventually have them collide at the biggest stage of WWE, that obviously is Wrestlemania. Here, let us try to outline a road map that will lead us to The Miz versus Shane McMahon Wrestlemania match.

On the following show of Smackdown after Royal Rumble, The Usos become No. 1 contender's for the Tag Team titles after defeating The New Day, Heavy Machinery and The Bar.

The Usos will get their shot at Elimination Chamber which will happen at Toyota Centre, Texas on February 17. The Usos, as talented they are, will put up a tough fight to the Best Team in the World.

However, despite their showing, The Miz and Shane McMahon would prevail over and retain their titles.

This match will also sow the seeds of dissension between The Miz and Shane McMahon where McMahon will be seen doing the heavy work and The Miz will come into action in later part only to make a pinfall. This will show an angry McMahon questioning the doings of The Miz.
