5 talking points from this week's WWE RAW
RAW this week from Canada was one of the better shows and had equal dose of wrestling and promos. Unlike previous RAWs we didn’t have to go through old footage over and over again. With Curtis Axel being made to look a huge prospect for the future and Cena bringing back the three stages of hell here there are a lot of interesting new developments that WWE gave us this week. Here are the 5 talking points of this week’s edition of RAW.
1. John Cena vs Ryback (Three stages of hell at Payback)
RAW witnessed the return of three stages from hell. Payback is just a few weeks away and we have the main event set and ready to roll. But the problem however is that a three stages of hell match between these two will be nothing but a snooze fest. These two will first face off in a lumberjack match, followed by a tables match and finally the ambulance match. The lumberjack match is surely going to be a letdown though the other two seem to be a decent prospect. So it remains to be seen how WWE takes this feud further. Cena barely came out of the match at Extreme Rules the WWE Champion and the same can’t be expected this time around.
2. The Shield successfully defend their titles signalling a long reignÂ
As days pass, the Shield’s dominance in WWE is only becoming certain. It has been very long since we’ve seen a faction this strong in the company and the Shield defending its title this week on RAW only made the stand stronger. Dean Ambrose successfully defended his title against Kofi Kingston and the duo of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins defended theirs in what one would call the best match of the year. With every match the Shield seem to be growing in confidence and class. The quality of their matches have remained top notch right from the beginning and it is now difficult to see them drop these titles anywhere in the near future.
3. Tension between Big E Langston and AJ Lee
The first sign of a crack in the relationship between AJ and Big E surfaced this week on RAW when the two had an altercation after Big E lost a match to Del Rio. Big E lost the match as he was pushed onto an turnbuckle that AJ had exposed as a tactic. The backfire was least appreciated by Big E who wanted none of AJ’s explanation. Looks like the team of AJ, Ziggler and Big E is slowly on the verge of cracking which looks like a useful way ahead for Big E with regard to his future endeavors.
4. Curtis Axel remains undefeated under Paul Heyman
Curtis Axel the newest star in WWE is being promoted as a strong wrestler. After facing Triple H and winning the match as Triple H couldn’t continue no more, Axel faced John Cena and again came out victorious. Though the victory did come by a count out given Cena’s reputation it still does add as a victory in the books. Paul Heyman can now boast about his client defeating the two greatest stars of the company and promote him further.
5. CM Punk to return at Payback and face Jericho
The much anticipated return of CM Punk was officially announced on RAW this week. Paul Heyman and Jericho gave us a pretty good promo on Jericho’s Highlight Reel and it was here that Jericho challenged Punk to a match at Payback. Heyman accepted this on Punk’s behalf. Now does Punk have anything to say to the decision that Heyman took? Will it affect the client-manager relationship between the two? RAW next week can give us the necessary answers.
