5 Things we learned from Enzo Amore's interview with Chris Van Vliet
It's been nearly two years since Enzo Amore graced WWE with an appearance, even though there was that cameo at Survivor Series that many fans still question to this very day. Amore was fired from the company due to a number of issues in his personal life and has since been quite outspoken about the reasons why the company dismissed him in almost every interview since.
Amore recently sat down with AEW broadcaster Chris Van Vliet and opened up about a number of factors about his life, career, and how he's adjusted to life outside the ring over the past few years.
Here are some of the biggest things we learned from Enzo Amore's interview with Chris Van Vliet.
#5. John Cena saved Enzo Amore's WWE career
One of the first things that Enzo Amore talked about while speaking to Van Vliet was the fact that he was ready to be fired just seven months after he first came to WWE. Amore went out to the ring for an NXT match at one point and was prepared to be fired when he headed backstage, but thankfully John Cena was in the crowd watching his match and actually asked for him to be part of the dark segment later in the show. This prompted WWE to take a longer look at the star and allowed him to open up and share his personality much more.
"Basically the first time that we ever went out on TV I said, 'My name is Enzo Amore and I'm a certified G and a bonafide studd', I didn't say, 'And you can't teach that,' at that moment. John Cena was in the crowd that day and I was told that I was going to be fired, so I was out there to do a job. I have a contract, I'm an employee, but at the same time I'm about to go out there and lose and then get fired. So when I came through the curtain I thought I was all over and I was like, 'It was terrible. They're gonna tell me I did bad,' but this little kid called Robin comes running up to me and he's like, 'Dude, John Cena wants to meet you.'"
Cena was later part of a dark segment with Amore and Big Cass which may have been the main reason why Amore wasn't fired.
