5 things we learned from Vince McMahon's segment with AJ Styles & Daniel Bryan

WWE Photo

That was an extremely interesting segment, more so than Vince McMahon's segment with Finn Balor, Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman and Paul Heyman. Unlike that segment, it didn't feel too dragged out and we got some solid character work from it.

Daniel Bryan continued his "save the planet" schtick, to much success. AJ Styles also got over more as a babyface and seeing Vince McMahon between the two added a very interesting dynamic to it.

It helped that both superstars were really solid with their promos. AJ Styles didn't even need to do too much talking. Bryan alone ranted and got a lot of heat for it. It's going to be interesting to see how the WWE Championship match at Royal Rumble plays out, but either way, Daniel Bryan stood tall after drawing the ire of the boss himself. Without going much further, let's take a look at a few points to note from the segment.

#5 They aren't the hottest program on SmackDown

Mr. McMahon commands Bryan to get in the ring.

As sad as it is, the truth is that AJ Styles himself isn't as hot as he was last year. Granted, we're very used to seeing him in the main event scene because he was WWE Champion for over a year.

With that being said, the truth is that Styles and Bryan don't have the hottest program on the blue brand. Anything that Becky Lynch touches these days seems to turn to gold, and it's clear just based on the reactions. Asuka didn't even need to speak a word and the reaction for the segment was off the charts.

While Bryan did get a lot of heat, the overall reaction of the crowd wasn't anywhere as strong as the first segment. You could attribute that to the fact that the Becky Lynch segment was the first one, but the reaction would have been the same regardless of the placement.
