This week's episode of NXT was too sweet

If there’s one thing WWE NXT is good at, it's takeovers, and that’s exactly what the brand did with the previous two episodes of SmackDown and RAW as they were added to the Survivor Series pay-per-view for the first time.

Their actions attracted equal reactions, and the brand was ready for invaders from the RAW and SmackDown rosters after what they did in the past few days. The O.C. visited Full Sail University, giving a fitting reply to NXT this week.

Apart from that, the company continued with its regular action and storyline building, as NXT has to build towards two back-to-back pay-per-views, rather than just one. The women of NXT were focused on WarGames, while the men had to divide attention between the two events.

In this article, we take a look at five things the company got right on this week’s episode of NXT.

#5 The O.C.’s attack

NXT is arguably the best of the three brands at giving fans a great opening segment. WWE has been using opening segments to build towards the main event of almost every single show, and this week was no different.

Before this week’s NXT could begin, The O.C. arrived and laid out The Undisputed Era backstage while they were trying to make a statement. The best faction on RAW made a huge statement of intent, opening the show before heading to the Black & Gold ring to address the crowd.

The Phenomenal One clarified that The O.C. was in the building to take over NXT, but Tommaso Ciampa and a couple of his friends did not like the idea.

This set up a huge six-man tag team match between the teams of AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson, and Ciampa, Keith Lee, & Matt Riddle.

The O.C.’s attack was the perfect way to kick off the show, as fans have been drooling over a possible rivalry and match between the two factions down the road. Setting up a huge RAW vs NXT match for later in the night completely blew the roof off Full Sail University, as fans got ready to taste what to expect at Survivor Series.
