One of the most important factors in professional wrestling is writing. Wrestling companies hire writers to churn out storylines for their weekly programming, which result in wrestlers acting out the script on TV and coupling the same with pre-planned wrestling matches inside the squared circle.

WWE has produced a bunch of memorable storylines over the course of the past several decades. There have been many of those that fans didn't approve of, but the company went ahead with them despite criticism.

By the end of 2018, Baron Corbin's reign as Raw GM had flopped horribly, and the fan outrage on social media didn't go unnoticed by WWE. More importantly, the ratings for WWE's premier show were declining at a rapid pace. These two factors forced the company to change their plans with respect to Corbin, and strip him off the position of Raw GM.

An episode of Raw saw the entire McMahon family come out and accept that they haven't been doing a good job lately, and that starting that moment, things would change for good. Soon after, McMahons took control of both the shows and Corbin's reign as Raw GM came to an end.

Corbin's character as a heel authority figure, who held back a bunch of babyfaces on a regular basis, didn't work one bit and the fan response all over social media and during the weekly shows played a major part in WWE dropping the entire angle.
