5 up-and-coming WWE NXT Superstars to keep an eye out for
It isn't rare for WWE NXT to produce a better television show than Raw or SmackDown LIVE from week to week; but lest we forget, it is a developmental system at the end of the day. Regardless of how many world-renowned wrestlers come through Full Sail University, the brand is primarily there for those who are still honing their craft and attempting to make it big in the business.
In fact, it can be argued that NXT has lost sight of that in recent years, and outside of a few notable names such as Charlotte Flair, Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt, WWE hasn't created many stars from scratch. After so many years, they are finally going back to the basics it seems with their current crop of talent.
However, sometimes the prospects with the most potential in NXT are the ones who haven't even made it to television yet (i.e. Braun Strowman never wrestled a single televised match in NXT before going to the main roster). Keep an eye out for these five up-and-comers, as they could enjoy significant success down the road.
#5 Oney Lorcan
Technically, Oney Lorcan is no “up-and-comer” in the wrestling world considering his experience on the independent scene. He began his career in 2008 before being signed by NXT in 2015, where he has primarily been utilised as an enhancement talent.
In that time, however, he has scored a handful of victories over the likes of Tye Dillinger, Andrade “Cien” Almas and Elias Sampson. And with each of them, along with Drew McIntye, Bobby Roode and Kalisto, he has had strong showings and been able to showcase his skills.
It's pretty evident that Lorcan is an outstanding wrestler, but what he currently lacks is a character. Hopefully, with more time in developmental, he can evolve into one of the brand's brightest stars.
