5 worst WWE Divas storylines from 2007-2012

The WWE Women's Division is one of the most entertaining aspects of the company these days, as the likes of Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Asuka, Sasha Banks, and other female roster members have been amazing the fans with their unpredictability, athleticism, and true storytelling.

They have also often outperformed their male counterparts.

Triple H helped kick-start the WWE Women's Evolution back in the summer of 2012, when he replaced John Laurinaitis as WWE's Head of Talent. It became evident that Triple H was not a fan of eye candy, and instead sought more athletes and independent wrestlers, instead of models, while several female talents at that time either retired or were released.

However, there was a time back in 2007 when the female roster (known as "Divas" at that time) lost both Trish Stratus & Lita, and found themselves in the shadow of their male counterparts, and were often used as a sideshow during RAW, SmackDown, and the pay-per-views.

The storylines at times were points of ridicule, which saw the women either being sexualised or being labeled damsels in distress, and of all of the Divas storylines from 2007 to 2012, these are the five worst.

#5 Extreme expose

When the WWE revived ECW as a third brand back in 2006, it borrowed an element made famous by WCW, as it debuted a three-woman dance troupe called Extreme Expose, which was in part a homage to the Nitro Girls.

Consisting of Brooke Adams, Layla, and Kelly, these girls were known for lighting up the ring at times with their over-the-top and sometimes risque dance moves that would not be considered acceptable in the WWE today.

Tensions between Extreme Expose began back in the summer of 2007, when The Miz became the group's manager, while Kelly Kelly was involved in a relationship with Balls Mahoney, and the group disbanded later that year when Adams was released as Kelly Kelly and Layla feuded with each other with one infamous moment where the two women got involved in a food fight.
