5 wrestlers with the most potential in 2018
2017 saw the rise of stars such as Kenny Omega in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Samoa Joe ran rampant on WWE Raw and Marty Scurll in Ring of Honor and NJPW.
These fresh faces are sure to carry the programs they wrestle for years to come. 2017 also saw the continuance of a career resurgence for Chris Jericho and Goldberg in NJPW and the WWE respectively, but who will have the most momentum entering 2018?
#1 Cody Rhodes
2017 may arguably have been Cody Rhodes' best year of his career. From a lengthy title reign as Ring of Honor's World Championship, to big money matches against Kazuchika Okada at the US G1 event and Kota Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom 12, Cody has turned what was once WWE's trash into his own treasure.
But 2017 was only the start.
2018 will see a hungrier Cody, vying to reclaim the ROH title that he lost to Dalton Castle in December. Cody will look to raise his post-WWE stock even more, as impossible as that seems to be with the 2017 he had.
Cody will be a multi-time world champion in Ring of Honor, and while he looked impressive in defeat against Okada, Castle and Ibushi, he is his best self when he is the cocky heel champion. Whether in ROH, NJPW, Impact or even a WWE return, 2018 will see Cody on top of the wrestling world once again.
