5 WWE teams that can be split up by the "transfer window"

WWE’s transfer window was announced during last week’s edition of SmackDown and such a move will dramatically alter the entire roster of RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. Alongside the singles superstars, the company’s current wrestling factions will either get bummed about it or take advantage of the new ruling.

This would probably result in them splitting up as some of its members could have been, for the longest time, itching for a solo run. But who are these WWE teams that can be split up by the recently announced transfer window? Here are some possible unions that could end up breaking up.

#5. The tag team of Chelsea Green and Piper Niven

Who would have thought that the in-ring partnership between WWE Superstars Chelsea Green and Piper Niven would click and be positively received by fans?

This interesting team-up between them began when the latter declared that she was the former’s co-WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion over a year ago. This after Green’s original tag partner, Sonya Deville, was sidelined due to an injury.

Such an alliance has helped their careers flourish, not to mention their participation in numerous PLEs. Since her 2023 return, Green has showcased impressive in-ring abilities performing high-risk maneuvers, and getting fan heat due to her "Karen-like" persona.

The same thing can be said of Niven as her recent battle against Bianca Belair – despite a losing effort was indeed a superb showcase of skills that is worthy of a singles push.

If the two split due to WWE’s transfer window, it will be interesting to see what storyline would branch out from it.

#4. Dakota Kai and Damage CTRL

After several months of being away from WWE TV due to an injury, Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai has finally come back and rejoined her crew.

After getting retribution for what Pure Fusion Collective (Shayna Baszler, Sonya Deville, and Zoy Stark) did to her a few months back, she is one of the female superstars who are currently in the running to become the inaugural WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. She recently advanced to the tournament’s semis after defeating PFC’s Baszler.

Her recent matches show how reinvigorated Kai is and how eager she is to make up for lost time. In an interview, it can be observed how pumped she is to win the newly introduced belt for the women’s division. Provided that everything goes well and she goes on to win the gold, it could be the start of a singles push for her and could lead to her taking advantage of the transfer window.

#3. Finn Bálor and The Judgment Day

Recent reports suggest that The Judgment Day’s Finn Bálor has emerged as the locker room leader in the promotion. After Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest got kicked out of the group, Bálor went on to become the faction’s leader talking sense to his fellow stablemates.

Now that he is celebrating his 10th year in WWE, it was learned that the promotion is bound to give The Demon a major push as a singles competitor heading to 2025. It is already noticeable as he is scheduled to lock horns against reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and ex-teammate Damian Priest at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event this December 14.

Provided that such a push for Bálor comes to fruition, there is a possibility that he could break away from the heel faction and be part of WWE’s transfer window.

#2. A-Town Down Under

WWE Superstars Austin Theory and Grayson Waller are two exceptional talents of the promotion and are good heat magnets. Whether they are competing inside the ring or cutting a promo, crowd boos echo across the arena.

There were already hints of brewing tensions between them as can be seen on previous matches and promos. It was believed at the time that the duo could be bound to break up as a team, though the two superstars have debunked such a scenario.

Both have spoken positively about their alliance alongside the opportunities that came their way. But with the recent announcement of the transfer window, will one of them take advantage of it and pursue a singles run?

#1. Imperium splits via transfer

Fans could also witness Imperium’s dissolution due to WWE’s transfer window.

The faction, initially consisting of Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci, and reigning World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, is one of the most formidable wrestling stables in the promotion. However, Vinci was kicked out from the group back in April after he and Kaiser lost to New Day’s Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston.

Now as a duo, Imperium remains a dominant group within the promotion’s tag division. Gunther and Kaiser are also doing some great in-ring work in their singles matches.

However, during the December 6 edition of SmackDown, there was a backstage segment featuring the World Heavyweight Champ where he just finished a closed-door talk with the blue brand’s General Manager Nick Aldis. It is believed that it has something to do with the recent transfer window announcement.

A similar thing happened with Kaiser during this week’s RAW where he and reigning Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker had a heated confrontation where he ended up slapping the IC Champ across the face. Prior to this, Breakker stated during their verbal jabs that the Imperium member is Gunther’s watchdog, which pretty much triggered the superstar.

Next week on RAW, the two Superstars will be battling it out for the IC Championship. Provided that Kaiser captures the gold and takes advantage of the transfer window, could this be the beginning of his singles run?
