6 big returns that could take place at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024
Last year's edition of Survivor Series: WarGames saw perhaps the biggest return in WWE history when CM Punk walked back into the company in Chicago.
Punk's reappearance was once thought impossible due to how the two sides ended their relationship in 2014. With how things ended in AEW, however, the possibility became a reality.
The Bloodline saga will be booked for one of the WarGames matches. The path toward the women's steel cage match is currently unclear.
Could some big names shock the world by popping up in Vancouver like Punk did in Chicago last year? The next six stars could make huge returns to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames.
#6. Paul Heyman must rejoin the Bloodline saga
With every passing week, the likelihood of Paul Heyman returning to screens increases. He was attacked over the summer but could be thrust back into the drama at any moment.
The numbers are currently on Solo Sikoa's side, but once they're even again, something will happen to tip them in his favor.
While a big name like The Rock or Cody Rhodes joining the OG side could help, The Wiseman's presence could be just as impactful.
He can say he stood up to Solo and is proud of his stance. That would also garner respect from various stars opposing the new version of the group at Survivor Series: WarGames.
#5. John Cena may appear if not competing
During his retirement announcement at this year's Money in the Bank, John Cena made a big deal about certain events being the last of his career. He's yet to have the first match on his retirement tour, prolonging the moment it actually starts.
If he doesn't compete for Team OG or in a featured singles match, the multi-time former champion could have another in-ring segment at Survivor Series: WarGames.
Cena could lay out an open challenge or encounter a hungry young star looking to make their name off his back. That could set up the first match on the tour and Cena's reintroduction to WWE's New Era.
#4. Charlotte Flair's return could be about timing
The Queen might be back on TV screens before RAW moves to Netflix. She was injured last December and could be nearing a ring return at any moment.
Instead of randomly having her show up on an episode of RAW or SmackDown, Flair could emerge following a woman's contest at Survivor Series: WarGames.
If both Champions are involved in a match, The Queen's emergence at Survivor Series: WarGames could also raise the question of which brand she'll join. Both title scenes need a jolt.
While it would be nice for some newer names to get chances, Flair's involvement could steady the division on The Road to WrestleMania.
#3. Goldberg wants a meaningful retirement match
The jury is out regarding when and if Goldberg will face Gunther for the World Heavyweight title. Due to the one-off nature of the event, Survivor Series: WarGames would be the perfect spot for a match.
Damian Priest has the next shot at The Ring General. With more than three weeks before the PLE, however, the SummerSlam rematch may take place to pop an episode of RAW.
The tease at Bad Blood must have been done for a reason, especially since Goldberg jumped the barricade.
While the outcome wouldn't be in question, Goldberg could pop up to answer an open challenge or spear Gunther after a title match. They could then square off at Saturday Night's Main Event in December.
#2. Becky Lynch competed at last year's Survivor Series: WarGames
The RAW Women's division is in rough shape after several changes since WrestleMania 40. Rhea Ripley and Asuka are out with injuries, with Asuka suffering an injury over the summer.
Ripley's orbital injury will sideline her indefinitely. Becky Lynch is currently unsigned after her deal expired in June.
The division could greatly use her presence since the roster is a mix of tag teams and stars who aren't believable threats to win a singles title. The Man could pop up at Survivor Series: WarGames to reinsert herself into the New Era.
She lost the title to Liv Morgan, so coming back for vengeance would write itself. It would also force her to find her place in the new division and rekindle her alliance with fellow Irishwoman Lyra Valkyria.
#1. The Rock is watching from the sidelines
The adage "less is more" works for some things. The Rock will always pop the crowd when his music hits, but he's operated under this rule for his sporadic returns to the WWE.
Instead of getting in the ring, he showed up at the end of Bad Blood to look at the stars in the ring. That was a month ago, and he hasn't made another peep. The moves make sense, as WWE has to iron out the new Bloodline threads it presents each week.
The Usos and Roman Reigns need to make amends with Sami Zayn because they treated him poorly. When they finally get on the same page, The Rock can pop up again to turn the situation on its head.
It's unknown if he'll be in the WarGames match, but due to his schedule, the best bet is a post-match appearance like CM Punk's in 2023.
