6 Consequences for The New Day after they betrayed Big E

The New Day's rejection of Big E's attempt at reconciliation with his friends will have ripple effects across WWE. Once renowned for their power of positivity, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston's anger finally boiled over during their 10-year Celebration on RAW.

Much of the contempt came from a perceived thought that the former WWE Champion abandoned them after he injured his neck a few years ago. Woods tried to liken a neck injury to ACL surgery.

Some consequences will certainly be in the books after they betrayed Big E. The New Day may have to deal with the next six things after their actions on RAW.

#6. Back to the tag team division

One big point Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods argued about was Woods' lack of opportunities to win singles gold. His jealousy of that fact came out during his argument with Kingston on RAW a few weeks ago.

He did win King of the Ring but never captured even midcard gold in WWE. By sending Big E packing, the New Day has essentially pigeonholed itself back into the tag team division.

It was losing to the Judgment Day that helped their descent into a huge character shift. If the end goal was to get more singles opportunities, then betraying their friend to remain a duo might not change their fortunes.

#5. The New Day's heel turn forces another group to change

Where there's light, there needs to be dark. Good needs evil to exist. With the New Day essentially turning heel by talking down to their supposed brother, it may open up a babyface spot for a new or different squad.

The Judgment Day may fracture into two factions. Despite being one of wrestling's most hated heels, Dominik Mysterio was actually cheered during his match with Gunther.

NXT's Malik Blade and Edris Enofe haven't been on programming and could be moving to the main roster. They could fill the void left by the New Day.

Pretty Deadly could move to RAW and turn face. The War Raiders are likely to be heroes after losing to Finn Balor and JD McDonagh.

#4. The New Day is alienated from much of the locker room

One big consequence of turning against Big E will be dynamics in the locker room. Long thought of as honorable and heroic, their words about their friend will cause different reactions among the rest of the roster.

R-Truth and Alpha Academy have been close to Kingston and Woods over the last few months. They'll likely be disappointed in them. Braun Strowman and Jey Uso will also likely shun them.

Jey battled the New Day in several of its pairings, so expect The Yeet Master to have a say. While some faces will shun the New Day, groups like the Final Testament or the Judgment Day will likely laud them for their actions.

Karrion Kross already planted seeds of dissent over the summer. He'll likely bask in the fruits those seeds bore once he's finished with the Wyatt Sicks.

#3. The Wyatt Sicks target them next

While Uncle Howdy has Kross and his minions currently in his sights, he's always thinking ahead. Before attacking the Miz and, by extension, Kross, they sent warnings in pre-taped messages.

The words were often ambiguous as to the intended targets. Once Howdy and his allies actually started appearing on RAW, however, their intention was clear.

Since Kingston and Woods betrayed a friend and brother, they have to be on the Wyatt Sicks' hit list. It's how they've operated thus far, and they could do so in a feud once RAW hits Netflix.

#2. They lose the "New Day" moniker

The New Day has always been Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods. When one was injured, the other two soldiered on to represent the faction. Essentially excommunicating the former Iowa Hawkeye may force a name change.

The group has forever been synonymous with happiness, bright colors, and positivity. That shift in thinking may force Kingston and Woods to adopt a new moniker going forward.

It would signal how things have changed and that the New Day, as fans know it, is a thing of the past. If other factors coincide with rejecting Big E, the name change might be in the booker's plans.

#1. Big E eventually returns and rejects them

The main reason why Kingston and Woods rejected Big E was because they felt he abandoned them after injuring his neck. According to them, he could have returned to the fold at any time, even as an active manager.

It was only when he saw that they were headed for an implosion that he reappeared. Showing up on PLE pre-show panels meant that he was in the vicinity of returning but only wanted to do his "desk job" instead of TV work.

If Big E receives medical clearance in the near future - and it's a good possibility after RAW - then they may get cake on their faces. Seeing that he is back could force a change of heart.

Due to their harsh words, however, he can rebuke their advances, leading to a blockbuster match at WrestleMania 41.
