6 Current WWE Superstars' family ties you didn't know about
Pro wrestling, like many other fields of sport, has a rich history of families dominating the business. Most wrestling fans know of the famous wrestling families like the Hart family (one of whom is still in the WWE - Natalya), the Anoa'i, as well as the Flair and Orton family, who have all held the most prestigious titles in the business and dominated the wrestling business.
But, there have been some wrestlers whose family relations have been kept a secret or haven't been used in WWE's storylines, which may surprise quite a few fans.
In this article, we talk about a few current WWE Superstars whose family ties you probably did not know about...
#1 Jinder Mahal
Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal has had an up-and-down run in the WWE since his return to the WWE in 2016. Mahal, who was with the WWE from 2011 to 2014 had an average career in the WWE during his first run with the company.
In 2016, when he returned he was a changed man, with a new character and a lot of work done on his physique. One of the men he credits for his change is his uncle Gama Singh, who is a former wrestler, who even wrestled for the WWE (WWF, as it was then known) back in the 80s, when the promotion was a shadow of the global giant that it is today.
Vince McMahon wanted an Indian wrestler for WWE's overseas tours for which Gama Singh was hired. Singh wrestled all over the world, in NJPW, NWA, and Stampede Wrestling, where he started off.
He is currently a part of a rival of WWE, Impact Wrestling, where he is a manager of an Indian stable called Desi Hit Squad.
In an interview with Calgary Sun, Jinder spoke about the impact that his uncle had on his wrestling: "My Uncle, Gama Singh, a well-known wrestler from Stampede Wrestling, heavily influenced me. To this very day, I go to him for advice or to critique my matches. I believe he is one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time.”
