7-time WWE champion to finally return tonight on SmackDown and demand a title shot? Exploring potential scenario
This week's episode of WWE SmackDown is expected to be a stacked affair, and with the build-up to SummerSlam now underway, there are several stars who could finally make their return.
It has been more than a month since AJ Styles wrestled for WWE and came up short at Clash at the Castle, but it could finally be time for the former world champion to return and push to be part of The Biggest Party of the Summer.
Styles was denied a title shot by Nick Aldis ahead of Clash at the Castle, but he was then able to force himself into the title picture by attacking Cody Rhodes. There are many other champions on SmackDown, and he could decide to attack one of them to guarantee himself a title match at SummerSlam.
AJ Styles looks to be heading towards retirement from WWE
AJ Styles could be one of several names who could leave the company following WrestleMania 41, which means that he would want to make the most of the time he has left.
Styles is one of SmackDown's biggest stars and despite coming up short to Cody Rhodes at Clash at the Castle, he could force his way into another major storyline. Styles recently wrestled for NOAH and was able to represent WWE outside of the company, which shows that there is a lot of faith in him from the higher-ups.
While LA Knight and Logan Paul currently occupy the United States Championship picture ahead of the Biggest Party of the Summer, there could be room for another addition, and the match could easily be changed into a triple threat since Nick Aldis wasn't present last week on SmackDown and didn't sign the contract that Knight claimed he was handed.
It will be interesting to see how this goes down tonight on SmackDown.
